				Hello all,
I did a search on the forum on this topic, only got one return and it was not what I was looking for. If this is something that was asked before, please post the link so that I do not waste other's time.
I am looking for instructions on how to use the dusky tome. I have heard rumors and such, but do not know how to read, extract, and finally, emplace a demon into a gem.
Thanks for any help you might have.
P.S. if someone wants to RP the instructions in game, I am more than willing to do that.
TPK

Hello... just attempted to read my first Dusty Tome. I made an investment in Lore: Arcana and Lore: The Planes skills to ~mid/high 20's... Then I used the book. I ended up making a successful Lore: Geography roll in spite of not having any points invested and was able to read the Dusty Tome. After I read the book I came and found this insight forum post and read the wiki... The wiki clarified my confusion. A Dusty Tome provides an able-reader
a chance to learn the proper name of a planar creature. Each book provides two opportunities to decipher it. I opine that if you fail to read it on the first go, be sure to make note of the proper lore skill and DC from the combat log. Cheers!
"Rare books called 'Dusty Tome' have been added to the loot tables that, with the right lore skills, can be deciphered and potentially reveal a proper name of a planar being. If you fail to decipher such a book, you can let someone else try who might have better lore/knowledge in the area. Make sure it is someone you trust though, or they could steal the knowledge in the book. The main function of the books is as lore nodes: if successfully deciphered, the book will reward some XP and its description will be updated with a lore text. For a few of the books that lore text will contain the proper name of a planar creature."

Every player can only try a tome once. If failed, you can give it to another "trustworthy" player to try.

Trustworthy in quotes cracked me up. Like, you might get Trustworthy-ish...

Trustworthy or not they still see the name if it has one, you just have to hope they dont use it or sell it themselves.

				... yeesh.
To the OP, or whoever finds a tome and isn't sure they'll pass the lore check, if you can't find this fellow:

... feel free to PM me and I'll help you out(although, probably not IC'ly). I have two tome summons between two characters already and, quite frankly, have no interest in acquiring any more. If by chance the tome has a name, I'll stick around long enough to give advice on how to summon it, and probably even give any binding gem needed, free of charge(the gold cost of binding it is on you though

).
