Screen skipping fix - what is it?

Unread post by Lambert »

Someone gave it to me in the past. Few years ago. But I forgot. How do I fix the screen skipping of death effect?

Do you mean the rubber-banding effect, where your avatar jumps back or forward a few steps and so on on you?

If you're using the Client Extension, try typing "/mpredict" to fix that.

Could you please describe it more detailed (if that's not what Maecius told about)? From this brief explanation, it's hard to understand what exactly you are talking about :)

The character does not move smoothly across the screen but skips frames.

Yeah, then, if you use client extension, type in /mpredict to make sure it is disabled.
That's the only solution to it. Using wasd movement around hard object will still produce rubber-banding and wonky behavior though.

If that does help, to run the command automatically so you don't have to every time you start the game, create a file called autocmds.txt in the NWN2 directory and put /mpredict in it.
"They're just furry and misunderstood."
"Is that why you are killing them?"
"Yes. They will atone in death."
"Ah. That will help them understand."

I believe the jumpiness they are describing is different than the rubber banding that is fixed with /mpredict.

It is more of a jittery walk, especially noticeable with floating text.

If thats the case the only way I've been able to fix it is a computer restart, and that doesn't work the first time, 100% of the time. It does, however, always go away eventually.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. It does suck.

Yes, I have had to restart every time this happens. Usually once per day if I play regularly.

I don't know of this is the same (or related) effect described but although my char is a ranged attacker she tends to 'jump' to the location of her last kill. That's if I immediately try to move her after a kill. Although the game engine assumes she'll still in her original location and eventually 'jumps' her back, it's still mildly annoying.

Thats the /mpredict issue.

From the OP description, this is a different issue.
