Legend lore now gives only a Lore: History bonus.
You are fined one credit for a violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.

I think it should let you pick which one you want in regards to "person, thing or place" because it's very specific, Lore History isn't as broad as to encompass "place" too since that is geography, and what about "thing"? that is lore arcana obviously.

A thing like, a magic item maybe?

I suggested years ago that the caster should get to pick the lore type receiving the bonus, without possibility of stacking the spell with itself. Making it give a bonus to History instead of Arcana makes it deviate from the original PnP version even more than before.

Arcana has nothing to do with Legend Lore. The only other one I could see changing it to would be Local (or Local and History) as pnp says legends are covered under Local knowledge. I specifically did History instead of local though because although the spell uses the word 'legends', the lore it gives if you have the object/place/person at hand is more factual than simply being tales (as it reveals information forgotten or even never known). Legend Lore is more than just stories (unless you are only feeding it rumors, in which case you get slightly more accurate rumors in return), it's like learning something's biography.

There won't be a choice as Legend Lore is the strongest divination spell. Other skills are covered by other spells. Nature and Geography by Speak with Animals and Plants, Survival (and stronger versions of Nature/Geography) with Commune with Nature, The Planes with Contact Other Plane, Religion with Commune, Local with Speak with Dead, and Architecture and Dungeoneering with Stone Tell. Arcana's purpose in identifying magical properties is already covered by Identify.

Either way, the skill bonuses with these are pretty secondary as their main purpose is for RP divination especially with regard to DM plots.

Hehe but what about object?

The spell is very clear about telling you information about a thing, or object...Let's be real in this setting it will be used as lore arcana 100% of the time.

Now look at this from players handbook:

Legend lore brings to your mind legends about an important person, place, or thing.
If the person or thing is at hand, or if you are in the place in question, the casting time is only 1d4×10 minutes.
If you have only detailed information on the person, place, or thing, the casting time is 1d10 days, and the resulting lore is less complete and specific (though it often provides enough information to help you find the person, place, or thing, thus allowing a better legend lore result next time).
If you know only rumors, the casting time is 2d6 weeks, and the resulting lore is vague and incomplete (though it often directs you to more detailed information, thus allowing a better legend lore result next time).
During the casting, you cannot engage in other than routine activities: eating, sleeping, and so forth.
When completed, the divination brings legends (if any) about the person, place, or things to your mind.
These may be legends that are still current, legends that have been forgotten, or even information that has never been generally known.
If the person, place, or thing is not of legendary importance, you gain no information.
As a rule of thumb, characters who are 11th level and higher are "legendary", as are the sorts of creatures they contend with, the major magic items they wield, and the places where they perform their key deeds.
Examples of legend lore results include the following.
A divination about a mysterious magic axe you have at hand: "Woe to the evildoer whose hand touches the axe, for even the haft chops the hand of the evil ones.
Only a true Son or Daughter of Stone, one who loves Moradin and whom Moradin loves, may awaken the true powers of the axe, and only with the sacred word 'Rudnogg'
on the lips".

A divination about a legendary paladin about whom you know many details: "Vanashon has been denied the glory of death and the duty of life.
He waits patiently beneath the Forbidden Mountain".
(The paladin has been turned to stone in the caverns under the mountain).
A divination about ancient ruins about which you have only a passing reference in a partially damaged tome: "The sorcerer who called herself Ryth built a library without words and a temple without gods.
Those who read and those who pray tore it down in a night and a day".
(These clues may be enough for you to find out more and get details you need to cast a better legend lore).
Material Component: Incense worth at least 250 gp.
Focus: Four strips of ivory (worth 50 gp each) formed into a rectangle.

That is not the only use for Knowledge: Arcana, although it is the most common.

yyj is right. This spell is very powerful in PnP, which is why it is of such high levels, but here it seems to have been made completely useless outside of very specific roleplaying scenarios. If you're going to be adamant in making it unusable 99% of the time, at least lower its spell level.

I'm still unsure whether I'd classify this as Arcana, or Local (legends). But sure, it's a good example.

I could change Legend Lore to Arcana+Local instead (as Local specifically covers 'legends'). Then I'd probably add the 9th level spell Hindsight to do Lore History. Would that be acceptable to you both?

Is Lore Arcana more useful than other Lore skills outside of roleplaying scenarios? The only thing it is useful for IG as far as I'm aware is identifying items, for which Identify does the same job as a level 1 spell.

Legend Lore will be changed to Arcana+Local next patch, and Hindsight will be added for History instead.
