TKL Songs not Saving Correctly; Being Lost

Unread post by JustAnotherGuy »

Wasn't sure what category to place this in, so I'm putting it here for now. Mods, please feel free to move this if appropriate.

The bug that I found is that the TKL songs are not saving correctly. When you try and save a new song, it's supposed to overwrite the song you save it over. However, if you save the song again, it will say, "Saving this song will overwrite <old song that you've already saved over>". And then when the server resets, the new song you tried to save will be lost, and the old song will be back.

Currently, the only way to add new songs to the TKL is to input them in one session in between resets/crashes, and then immediately transcribe them into your inventory. If the server resets or crashes before you can transcribe it, you have lost the song completely, and have to start over from scratch.

Including a thread where someone was complaining about losing songs, I know three of us TKLers who have lost songs this way. Fortunately, I have this temporary fix found of transcribing the song; however, that means rushing to finish the song all in one go, rather than working on it leisurely and getting it just right.

Some general info:
1. Using transcribed songs in your inventory seems to still work fine.
2. I have only attempted this on server 1, and not server 2.
3. After saving a new song, it appears in the TKL that the song is saved (ie, shows the correct name in your song list) until reset.

Well, it's right to just put items into Bugs in general if there is no matching category.
Dragged for Dev attention, hope they can have a look at it soon.

Some further info:
1. After saving the song, I put the TKL away, and then pulled it back out. The song was not saved.
2. While I had the TKL out, I crashed. Not the server, but my client. When I came back, I still had the TKL out, and the song I was working on was still there. It then disappeared after I put the TKL away.

Sorry for the late reply, i tested it like months ago and forgot to update.

I wasn't able to reproduce it with steps given, i tried different approach as well with no luck.

Do they still get lost for you?

As of right now, it seems that the songs are saving as intended. I'm still transcribing every single song just to be safe. But it's been probably over two months since I've had the issue.
