As it is now, the spell Body of the Sun has a range of "5 feet in all directions."
But what I've noticed is that many mobs, such as basilisks and wyverns, when in combat, must technically stand farther than 5 feet from the PC, since the spell does no damage. Does that mean it is only useful against mobs that are the same size or smaller than the caster?
I have the feeling that because its NWN2 and the ranges/distances are...weird, such a spell is not getting the effect it was meant to give.
Could the distance be doubled, or to whatever is necessary that when in combat, it at least will damage that foe that is actually hitting your PC, meaning, coming within the 5 feet range to land the hit?
Thank you for considering.

Re: Body of the Sun: consider to double range
From the mechanics how AoE spells work, their range should cover the mob center point by at least 1 pixel. So if mob hitbox is bigger that 10 feet, 5 feet radius AoE won't hit it until you push yourself into mob's hitbox (if that's even possible).Steve wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 4:52 pm As it is now, the spell Body of the Sun has a range of "5 feet in all directions."

Re: Body of the Sun: consider to double range
Cheers for the technical.
If increased range seems undoable, or maybe even overpowered, then perhaps considering making it cause dmg on hit, like Thorn Skin.
I noticed the non-damaging behavior using both a hand axe and a quarter staff, so I don’t know how much closer a PC can get than a small weapon in melee.

Re: Body of the Sun: consider to double range
*bump*
Also, I think I found the reason why all-of-a-sudden this was an issue for me, personally: quarterstaffs having their ranges increased to 7ft (I think...) created a situation where all melee is engaged now at a greater distance than 5 feet, the limit of Body of the Sun.
So for most mobs, I have to make an added effort to walk closer/on top of them, to get the effect dmg to work. Which was not how it was before. Of course, there are mobs, like wyverns, that one cannot walk closer to at all, and thus the new ranges of weapons now make the spell less effective.
