BG City Merchants selling (probably) illegal items in City
Epic Merchant Kalehir Shoomar is selling "Zombie Hide Armor" which is, according to its description "This armor is prepared from a single layer of pieced and stitched zombie skin. Sections of flesh appear rotted and torn." which is well... considering that zombies are just human/elf/dwarf/hin/etc that's just another way of saying "Human/etc skin armour". Kinda messed up no matter how you look at it.
Dudes also selling a Warlock's Scepter which is funny considering Warlocks are generally illegal.
Just posting this in bug reports since Runa said post it in bug reports so here you have it. Doesn't seem like a bug but it is kind of odd, maybe an oversight. More of a Soubar item.

Re: BG City Merchants selling (probably) illegal items in City
The merchant used to be found in hell, literally, and most people without builds that could do the journey... were rather unhappy to pay markup prices or escort fees, etc, just to have a look at what items were available. Thus, we got the merchants in Baldur's Gate and S'shamath. So, get your character in game, and start raising a fuss. Send screenshots of it to DMs, and perhaps the merchant will be driven away.
If you are offended by what I said have said above, I have recieved my last warning, I have discussed Intuitive Attack, so report - for I do not mind. Getting me banned is nothing special, it happens every week. But you could also choose not to be offended, this place needs more banter, your choice.

Heck, Sorcerous Sundries was selling Animate Dead scrolls for like, 9 years before we finally removed them last year. xD
I do kind of feel the epic vendor shouldn't be in the middle of BG though. The Hells was too out there, but BG is too mundane a place for it.

Yeah honestly there are multiple solutions here. The most obvious one just being removing the offending items. Its understandable that the Epic merchant was moved to BG but really shouldn't be openly selling "Zombie" Hide Armor.
Soubar is more of a shady place so I could see the more shady and borderline or outright illegal items moved there.
Another solution is just moving him into some back alley or building. There's already stuff like that in BG. So you know, not in the middle of BG anymore. But still in BG.
Could also just move them out of BG but that's a very lukewarm idea.

Move him to the Hall of Wonders in the palace district that may be less mundane?Rhifox wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 2:24 pm Heck, Sorcerous Sundries was selling Animate Dead scrolls for like, 9 years before we finally removed them last year. xD

And one of the reasons for that is... Well... You would not have an inventory window to browse through things if you were shopping in a real life shop. Thus, it would be an item that would only be brought to the fore upon a customer request.Rhifox wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 2:24 pm Heck, Sorcerous Sundries was selling Animate Dead scrolls for like, 9 years before we finally removed them last year. xD

And since Baldur's Gate is the largest population centre in the region, connected by roads and by sea, I would actually argue that it makes perfect sense for the said merchant to exist in Baldur's Gate. Just see him as the stand in guy for actually asking speciality merchants, contacts, and favours to seek special items all accross the Faerun. The bloated gold price of higher end magic items in D&D is not just about merchant greed, it is about being able to source, transport, and manufacture said items. Thus while a Zombie Armor might appear on the merchant inventory for us players, our characters would not be aware of it unless our characters are actually seeking it. And I would also like to remind that Baldur's Gate has/had a thieves guild, so acquiring something illegal in the city is not something so farfetched.

Since it's not a bug, but an outcome of staff decision in past, i will move this one to suggestions.

What about just tranferring those items to the merchant in the Docks, at the Blushing Mermaid Tavern? There's that shady merchant over there that is rarely used with nice items.

I have more than simply assessed the fact the server for a time wanted to make Baldur's Gate city for the most part the hub for all things, RP and most items you will need. In fact while you may get many options to how you start your adventure in Baldur's Gate but one option for Soubar kinda also makes it clear the obvious intent. if Surface.
However, there is a point when there's a clear line crossed in the IC realm when devs get ahold of some stuff on the server and don't think some days on what makes sense IC and what does not.
It is what it is, and I have come to terms that this is and was clearly a thing.
After years of trying to give others a chance to prove to me they can shape up here, I have run out of patience. The numbers of nwn2 overall dropping in the past few years have told me the path others truly want to take. Actions speak louder than words.
It's not worth the investment.

The merchant in BG is in The Wide, a bustling marketplace and crossroads for sea and caravan travel. It makes sense, to me, that one would be able to find most anything there.Azroth wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:54 pmI have more than simply assessed the fact the server for a time wanted to make Baldur's Gate city for the most part the hub for all things, RP and most items you will need. By comparison, Soubar is a tent-city waystop along one of those caravan routes. It has become more than that due to sustained RP, but it isn't by any comparison a marketplace like Baldur's Gate.

I was talking in a general sense of a much broader scheme of things. like what was brought up by a few people that was /slipped/ in.Planehopper wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:58 pm The merchant in BG is in The Wide, a bustling marketplace and crossroads for sea and caravan travel. And just the fact Bauldur's Gate has received a lot of attention on development and more, which left some of the other areas a bit under development as they wanted to mostly attract others to the city as the main RP hub.
which talking in server design all IC and whatever aside, makes a lot of sense to have a main hub in some area just for people to be able to find others to get RP in.
