I get the impression that there was a new website security update and such, but is there a reason I am required to now verify human-ness literally EVERY time I refresh or log into the website?

it says to do a virus scan to avoid that, which I have, but it still requires verification every time I refresh, and most of the time I go from Private messages to forum feeds and such. Essentially, any time there is significant loading.

It is ungodly levels of frustrating.

Sadly it's needed at the moment.

Dontcha think there could have been a public post about before or as it was instituted, instead of having everyone just “deal” with it, frustrating or not?

Frustrations are usually prevented when better communication is evident.

Well, this is needed in order to keep the forums up and running because otherwise they would be very slow or down.

seems - by some strange magic - it is gone now.

I understand, and am not arguing against using tools to make the Forums usable.

The forum has a security protocol for protecting itself from DDOS attacks.

I've asked Zanniej to turn it off for now, since it seems to be frustrating legitimate users as well as the attack bots.

If the forums go down again, we will have to turn it back on though.

Yeah, I didn't mean not to have security measures or anything. When it initially started there was a 5 second redirect or something, and that was fine, but when every other click I have to verify I'm not a bot, it got super frustrating.

I'm not sure why it went to that from just the 5 second redirect through the security.
