Alternating Caps...

I would like to request the Staff change the language of the Trolls, Giants, etc.,
who just recently began speaking in alternating capital letters, back to the original form.
iT iS vERy diStRaCtiNG. More importantly, it’s a recent phenomenology attributed to texting and not consistent with any literary examples from the setting.
The Urban Dictionary explains alternating caps as being synonymous with sarcasm, etc.

Thank you for your consideration.
Cheers!

Can you please provide a screenshot of their text messages thus people who don't kill trolls often understand what is wrong?

This was always the intended behavior of the affected languages and is only now showing up in game because Dalo Lorn fixed a long-standing issue with capitalization in the language system.

The Jotun dictionary does seem to be every possible kind of broken, but like Ged said, that's not something I touched directly. It's just that the changes exposed the brokenness.
I'll have to investigate who wrote that dictionary and how they did it before I can fix it. Looks like the words were populated from Finnish...

Thank you for your response. Does this mean some languages,
by design, are supposed to employ alternating capitalized letters?

Thank you for researching this.
Thank you both for taking the time to look into this issue. Your efforts are appreciated!

Some languages, by design, change the capitalization of text. It appears that these two languages do that in a way that means you'll get a few letters in a row that are capitalized, then a few that are not. Dalo dug deeper and there are some Common words that translate into two different Giant words depending on whether or not the Common word was capitalized. This doesn't make sense, because capitalization doesn't change word meanings in Common, even if it does in Giant. We suspect whomever created this language in the first place did a somewhat sloppy job, but definitely intended to create some weird behavior with capital letters in the output, maybe for stresses or tone.

That being said, I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to sensibly preserve that feature... and, for languages with established dictionaries like Jotun? It doesn't really make sense to have a cipher like that while still using normal words.
