Before Aukje became a “freelance sailor” she was a member of the Blue Dragons, aka the Imperial Navy patrolling the Dragonmere. As a marine she fought pirates or rival warships they encountered. Aukje was stationed in Suzail, which was also the home of the High Commander of the navy. Blue Dragons were basically something like Purple Dragons on the water, only their skills and structure differed. Aukje was well on her way of becoming a commissioned officer until the crew on her caravel became the center of scandalous intrigue. Word had it (some of) her crew was involved with smugglers and alike to earn extra coin. The High Commander meddled in these affairs since the ship and crew was assigned to his hometown, taking the matter quite personal. Without awaiting deeper investigation and trial - and as a preventative action-, the entire crew was dishonourably discharged from the Imperial Navy. Their names were added to a codex in the presence of other suspicious people, and not too far away from the list of criminals and pirates. Whenever they wanted to work in Cormyr they had to answer all kinds of questions. Feeling stigmatized and finding only work among the lowest of low, Aukje decided to carve out a different path. She became a sellsword who quickly developed into an innovative and resourceful professional mercenary/privateer. She respects the laws within the organisation she serves and has a certain sense of honor about her. Her goal is to make more coin than any of the Blue Dragons have ever seen in their lives. What she wants to do with said fortune remains unknown…
