Placeholder format | Under heavy construction
Kiyoshi is a man of middling stature with an exotic face for the western heartlands. The marks of a noble upbringing coupled with his Kozakuran facial features give the man a proud and lofty countenance. Jet black hair tied back into a topknot with a cascade of loose shoulder-length locks flowing behind. Coarse eyebrows frame the face below. His eyes shaped like strung shortbows, sclera contrasting with the deep, almost black brown of his irises. A dignified and distinguished nose stands evident above a prominent cupid's bow. Often clean-shaven, Kiyoshi's complexion is rarely marred by the beginnings of stubble along his jawline and upper lip. A stickler for presentation and cleanliness, he is often accompanied by the aroma of pine, ginger, and satsuma mandarin.

Guiding Virtue: Charity, Compassion
Concealed Vice: Pride, Wrath
As a follower of the Eight Million gods and Amaterasu Omikami Kiyoshi possesses different interpretations on the gods and mortals when compared to many locals of the Sword Coast and Western Heartlands.
Harae (Purity/Purification)
A concept referring to purity of mind and body and a cleansing of the accumulated Tsumi (Transgressions/sins) and Kegare (environmental pollution). In the eyes of the Eight Million gods all humans are born good it is through their actions and their environment that they become evil. The act of cleansing the spirit though harae serves as a means to keep people on the right path and ward off the corruptions of an impure world.
Harae can be observed in various ways be it via misogi (ritualistic ablutions) or more in depth ceremonies performed in the presence of the Kami.
Misogi (Ritual Ablutions)
Misogi is the act of cleansing the entirety of one's body and through that act abolishing the lingering misfortune of one's Tsumi and Kegare that taint the body. Misogi is always preformed before Harae is undertaken but may also be practiced before entering temple grounds or partaking in a service to the Kami.
Tsumi (Sin/Transgressions)
The concept of Tsumi can be simplified into an action that violates order or norms. From the minor antisocial behaviours to the major such as arson violence, murder, and adultery. Sickness and natural calamity are also part of Tsumi or transgressions brought about by sin that can be removed via Misogi and harae
Kegare (Polution/environmental sin)
Kegare is a state directly opposed to purity, in which a place or person is made profane through tsumi. Be it great calamities or pestilent corruption a person or place that has fallen into kegare must be purified via misogi. The act of bringing pollution into a sacred place or into a community is in and of itself a transgression requiring harae to absolve.
Batsu (punishment/Sanction)
Batsu is a penalty placed upon one who has committed tsumi or Kegare. The punishment can range from fines to banishment, punishments may aslo be intertwined with legal penalties which could be anything from Lashes (ten to fifty), Severe lashes (sixty to one hundred), hard labour, exile, and death (Garroting, hanging, or decapitation depending upon social rank).
Heihaku (offerings)
Service to the Kami includes making regular offerings in thanks for their protection and guidance. This in and of itself is not dissimilar to the local custom and practice and follows a similar fashion to local custom. Common offerings are sacred foods, spirits, clothing and weapons.
Yorishiro (Sacred treasures)
A place person or object inhabited by the spirit of a Kami for the duration of a ceremony like harae. Yorishiro may however be in the form of natural objects like rocks, trees, or prepared instruments like pillars banners or emblems.
