New\Returning player looking for build suggestions

Greetings,
i just return to play this great rpg, didn't play in years so i consider myself pretty much a new player,
i was playing around with the builder and i think i am going to roll a wizard this way:
wiz 5 \ rwt 10 \ am 8 \ bm 7
i was conflicted between this route or trying something to go SA but that would mean being forced to choose necromancy, while i am planning to focus evocation.
What do you guys think?
See you soon in game

Welcome back.

Were you here for the spell school changes? Necromancy, Conjuration and Evocation got some rework. Might be worth checking out.

Thank you!
I actually don’t know, such long time I didn’t play I really forgot how it was at the point I quit also cause back in time I wasn’t playing casters but just rogues
One question, are you able to permanently learn spells from in game items?
Or is your levelling up all what you got
Is evocation a good spell class to focus or is it all about necromancy and illusion nowadays?

So all of the scrolls in game you can scribe into your spell book to a max like 250 or something close. All spells can turn into scrolls.

https://bgtscc.fandom.com/wiki/Summoning

It talks about Necromancy and Conjuration summoning to included named summons and their requirments.

I dont know if the others are active, because I can't find them on the wiki, but look at this page as well.

I am certain the evocation and Transmutation is up and running, I am not sure about the rest.

Also, something that I discovered this weekend that is new to me is that you can burn a feat into having a Skill into a Class skill. So no more needing to multiclass just for Tumbling, you can just take this feat and get Tumble as a Class skill. That blew my mind and caught me by surprise.

Oh and the summoning hit dice and added together. So when you get Epic Conjuration or Epic Necromancy, that is +4HD on all those summons. It is most notable in Greater Planar Binding from 14 HD to 18HD. Because when you take it and have Greater Conjuration they are 16 HD and strong. Those extra two HD make them stronger.

Keep in mind, they are nothing more than speed bumps in the epic content, but most everywhere else, they hold their own after they are buffed.

There is no limit of how many spells a Wizard can add to their spellbook. If it's on your class spell list, you can learn it from a scroll, a wand, an elixir, a potion, wearable useable (like Boots of Haste) or anything else that allows your character to cast a spell.

While it can be fun going into things blind, you can gain a lot of information about custom spells on BGTSCC by visiting the wiki. The link can be found in top left corner of the forum.

This is also something that might be of help. Again, it can also be fun to find all this stuff on your own, perhaps even enhancing experience of the apprenticeship.

Thank you all for the replies!!
Yea I have spent half my weekend on the wiki already and planning to research more, tested some stuff on the test server and while trying to learn acid fog from a scroll I cast it and almost killed all the npcs in the room lol sorry
I think I actually found a bug tho, when you grab levels as a blood magus you get to choose a spellcasting class as feat but if you are an epic char it Also gives you option to choose an epic spell instead not sure if intended…

Talking about magic are really those orbs way to go? Cause specialising evocation would prohibit me conjuring…

Fun fact, you can pick your prohibited school in game through a feat once during the character's lifetime.

Did not know this got changed.

Also you can scribe any spell on level up, even if it is opposing. You just can't succeed the cast in game. Accidently got thunderlance and evocation was the prohibited school.

Ooh nice! Thought that was a rwt exclusive feat and not choosing the proper one would break some rule or smt! Guess I am going to be the first caster that has got a lot to learn yet

Well this is a safe space to ask any questions on your build or any of the new stuff added.

The question always comes down to, " what role do you see yourself in and what flavor of salt do you want to use." A bad popcorn analogy. I will work on it.

You're not allowed to take any new class/PRC in epics.
3-By-20 (3b20)
Your character must have at least 3 levels in every class their build plans to take when they reach character level 20, even if you are using a 100% RCR function. Prestige classes are included. So a Rogue 11/Assassin 6/Fighter 3 is valid, but a Rogue 11/Assassin 7/Fighter 2 would be invalid (Fighter only has 2 levels by level 20).

troll? cause even on the builder it's full of chars with prcs in the epic levels, and that rule doesn't exclude to go prc just to take 3 levels before lvl 20 which is absolutely doable
