Your welcome. I've been working in MH for over 15 years and it is only this last year that I have considered this issue, which is sad because I've had to suffer many narrcissists in my life, while also confronting my own narcissism.

What I realized is that in order to mature, we need to spend our life loving others more and better over the years, then just ourselves. We do it by accepting the suffering of life, without complaint, and serving others better.

It isn't easy, but it is the better path.

It hurts to suffer at the hands of naracistss, but it also sucks to be one. Not knowing how to find relief or freedom from endless selfishness and self servingness.

Even with positive psychology, authentic christian spirituality, and working on your relationships, we fall short and mess things up.

Good question.
I listened to a couple other videos from that doctor (I liked her), including the one that identifies four subtypes.
Malodia would be Malignant for sure. Selfish arrogant mean and lacking empathy.

But I found the communal narcissist very interesting, actually. The idea of manipulating a subculture to prop yourself up. They gave an example of someone bragging about how much they contribute and how involved they are in a charity. But how far can you take this subclass?
It makes me wonder about any person who is just a little too 'proud' about being a participant in moral majority group. Or any person who act in bad faith to manipulate themselves to the center of attention of a said groups, often at the expense of others. Using a community as a prop for attention and a tool personal gain. I have always wondered what to call people like that. Communal Narcissists.

I guess Malodia could be both Malignant and communal. Like the popular cheerleader mean girl in high school! Eheheh.

I've continued to watch more of her videos and this one is very informative and frightening.

Also, many people I have trained with have personally reported being on the spectrum of cluster b personality dysfunction or I have noted have those issues. We are all struggling to be better people and you should be encouraged that it is possible to become better.
