If Players are going to just ignore RP while doing X

If players are just going to ignore attempts at IC RP when out grinding quests or lootz-runs or whatever, should they just be allowed to just Toggle AFK the whole time?
Should solo OOC activities that players engage in just be somehow get labeled, in whatever way, since it is supported on BGTSCC anyway? And this way we can prevent IG attempts at interaction to just fall flat, and cause a certain level of "grief" between players?
Cheers.

This is an RP server, so no. All interactions should be in character.

Per BGTSCC's rules, quests can be run OOC using the AFK tag. All other interactions are IC. This includes
all combat and looting. (It's only the quest dialogue and interaction with the quest giver itself that's OOC.) There are no circumstances (without explicit DM permission) where a character can loot an object or kill a creature OOC.
So you should interpret the situation you described as the other character ICly ignoring your character. Do with that what you will.
Edit:
And maybe the Quest thing has been changed so they have to be IC for that too?

I think that if a player literally runs their toon through yours on the way to a quest path, that's a bit more than ICly ignoring my character.

As far as I'm concerned, "AFK flagging to represent being OOC" just shouldn't be allowed at all (except, perhaps for QC/staff doing testing). You shouldn't be able to go on your merry way grinding or doing quests telling other people who see you "sorry just OOC".

As cited earlier, it
isn't presently allowed except
possibly to complete quest dialogue. As an admin, it's up to you, Valefort, and Zanniej to decide if it should still be permitted for quests, or to strike down that DM ruling.

Our present PvP rules don't permit you to escalate to combat, but it seems reasonable to RP that as them rudely brushing past you. I don't condone that sort of behavior, but there is little recourse at this time. The best I can do is design content for RPers, and not for the sort of individual that you described. I would advise that you disengage rather than escalate.

It's an old cultural thing and I see what Steve means here. It's easy to meet people who just grind or fish while ignoring presence of other characters. All the times I brought it up in the past I was told that it's fine and you should let them do what they do. That said, I also don't agree its fine, I just stopped caring these days.

I have recently spent a lot of time at the fire in the BG outskirts, and (especially during "dead" times) I see people just run right on through the fire area, never stopping to RP or acknowledge anyone there. They sometimes run into others, and just keep on going.
It's annoying to me, but I usually either ignore them, or emote "Watches the lunatic running around", and then effectively ignore them. As I'm not often out looting, that side of things doesn't affect me much. In the past (as in, back in 2017-18) I would be out looting, and have a "looter" rush through and ignore any attempts at RP, and ignore tells from me to attempt to set up RP.

I had something like this happen the other day. Got to an area leading to a boss, someone else popped in. I emoted a nod, and they ran off. My party ground our way to the boss, and found it dead. The player just ran right for the boss, no grinding, and left.
Was it annoying? Yes. But is it worth worrying about? Absolutely not. Yes, people can be rude and it is annoying, but as long as they are not griefing, or otherwise causing real problems(I dont see being ignored as a real problem) then what does it matter?

This was actually me. If we're being real. I had no way of knowing if you had the ability to actually see me. I was ethreal. While the game mechanics allow you to see me no matter what ICly when under the spell ethreal jaunt you are not actually visible to the naked eye without spells to see me. Often though players may confuse this spell for Greater Sanctuary which has the same look but you are actually visible to the naked eye. I hope this helps!

I had blind sight cast on me, but I wouldnt think that would allow me to see you. I guess you could have thought the *nods* I typed in chat was for a yeti or something.

Greater Sanctuary has been renamed back to Etherealness. They are both now in-character ethereal spells.

Looting
Don't "camp" places. This includes parking yourself in boss rooms or treasure rooms and logging in solely to loot the chests or kill the boss. If you enter a dungeon and it already has players inside, don't sneak ahead of them by stealth, invisibility, or other means just to get the loot ahead of them. It's your responsibility to communicate with the players to see if it's okay for you to participate and get the spoils.

While I agree it is sound advice, I personally do not think it serves BGTSCC well that we are a community of Players with “rights” or experiences to ignore PCs that are IG.
And while I also absolutely understand some players are in a time bind, needing to get that last chest before it’s dinner time, back to work, or walk the dog, how difficult is it to make the simplest effort to respond IG, or at least, send an. OOC Tell stating your reason for being unable to follow the Rules? And if not the Rules, why not be polite?

Ignoring someone is a choice and is, therefore, an IC action. How a character chooses to react to being ignored is also an IC action.
Where I think this logic begins to break down is when a party is moving through a dungeon or over terrain (Wyverns) and is simply bypassed by a character or group of characters without any RP to rationalize their actions. Case in point, I was recently in the Troll Caves by myself and someone spawned into the cave while invisible and then moved past me to engage a troll spawn deeper in the cave. I was standing at the entrance inside the cave so it was impossible to miss me.
Cheers!

I'm just going to stop you right there. They were at the temple. No one was inside the FGK.
