Improved Uncanny Dodge lacks reference to Flanking

Unread post by Kitunenotsume »

Per both P&P and the NWN2 implementation, Improved Uncanny Dodge only protects against Sneak-attacks from Flanking, not from sneak attacks generally.
Additionally, Uncanny Dodge in NWN2 does not protect against attacks from hidden creatures.
NWN2 wiki wrote: The in-game description of this feat is incorrect. As per the Game Manual, this feat does not include attacks from hidden creatures. Successful attacks from stealth will not be affected by Uncanny Dodge.
Uncanny Dodge does work, but only as described in the Game Manual (not the in-game description shown above) - it is only effective against invisible attackers.

This feat is somewhat misunderstood due to its incomplete description: it will not give the user blanket immunity to sneak attacks, but it does render the user immune to sneak attacks that are delivered via flank attacks.

However, the in-game feat lacks any mention of these limitation and gives the incorrect interpretation that a character with IUD should be immune to many sources of Sneak Attack.
Current Text wrote: Uncanny Dodge
The character retains his Dex bonus to AC, even if caught flat-footed or attacked by a hidden or invisible creature.

Improved Uncanny Dodge
A character with this feat cannot be the victim of a sneak attack unless the attacker performing the sneak attack has at least 4 or more levels in classes that give sneak attack bonuses (such as rogue or assassin) than character levels of the defender with this feat.
A suggestion for corrected texts could be as follows. Using the game-manual text cited by the wiki would be ideal, but I'm unsure what it is.

I play a baker. Sometimes she provides counseling or treatment.
Ask about our Breadflower daily special to save five coppers off a purchase of five pastries.
She seems unusually interested in cursed items.
She has also been seeking a variety of gems and stones.
