Blackguard Spellbook

Unread post by Steve »

Hello!

Two questions:

1. Where can I find the current list of Blackguard spells for all Levels? I’d like to make this list on the Wiki.

2. Is there anyway possible to make the Blackguard spellbook work like the Paladin spellbook, or at least, add/make more complete the Blackguard spellbook to reflect PnP? Or is it “blackboxed” (and Dae needs another good challenge  )?

Cheers.

No one has gotten more than 4BG levels and lived long enough to post information. Lets just imagine that it is a 4lvl PRC :D

I would love to test it, but I would almost positively say, ask EasternCheese on this one. He will most certainly do the legwork for it and tell you.

Also, this would be a good resource for it too: https://bgtscc.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Spells

I think the point here was that the Wiki needs updating. Referring to the out-of-date document for the up-to-date information seems a bit ... circular. :D

Saw this thread today and funnily enough i did check blackguard spells earlier today coincidentally. Will update their correct spell levels layer, but spells themself are (by bg spellbook levels):
Blackguard:
Lvl1: Bull's, Doom, Magic weapon, Cure light wounds
Lvl 2: Inflict serious wounds, Darkenss, Cure moderate wounds, Eagle's, Death knell
lvl 3: Contagion, Cure serious wounds, Protection from energy, Summon creature 3
lvl 4: Inflict critial wounds, cure critical wounds, FoM, Poison

While these levels mostly coincide with spell levels, it doesn't necessarily mean that say lvl2 bg spellbook only contains lvl 2 spells.

Can this be edited at all? The Blackguard Spellbook (as per my #2 question in the OP)?

Technically speaking, it's not a spellbook, it's just a bunch of feats combined that call spell scripts when you click buttons. It's not really possible to create a real spellbook like wizard or cleric one with quickcast etc without throwing away game magic and redoing it all from scratch script-wise.
We definitely can add more blackguard feat-spells similar to how they are now if that is the purpose of your question.

Doesn't assassin have a custom spell-list? or is that just the same thing as Blackguard with a fake-list?

Might be bit outside the box and not PnP loyal but I see that Kits have been implemented, any way to turn Blackguard a paladin kit and just piggyback off the existing paladin spellbook?

Don't need to make it a kit. We could actually do that. It's an interesting solution.

I understood that the Blackguard spellbook was different than regular caster spellbook.

And yes, my desire here is to consider how and what spells that are allowed for Blackguard in PnP, could also be scripted for Blackguards on BGTSCC.

I realize the main issue is choosing what spells to replace, because it’s likely Blackguard cannot be allowed to choose spells based on how this feat to-script call spellbook works. I would love to make some suggestions if I knew it was possible to add.

Or, maybe actually it can, but would require a lot of scripting for spell-feat selection at level up?!?

But initially, all one has to do is compare the Blackguard 1-4 spellbook to the Assassin 1-4 spellbook, and you immediately see the sad comparison.

Since we are on the subject, has anyone noticed that the Blackguard should have options for her fiendish cohort?
The Blackguard's Fiendish Servant
Upon or after reaching 5th level, a blackguard can call a fiendish bat, cat, dire rat, horse, pony, raven, or toad to serve him. (See the Monster Manual for these creatures? basic statistics.) This creature may be used as a guardian (such as a bat), a helper (such as a cat), or a mount (such as a horse). The blackguard?s servant further gains HD and special abilities based on the blackguard?s character level
And…we got horses coming online soon!!!

Cheers.

If BG spells are added to Paladin spellbook (and simply have the spells fail to cast if you try to cast them as the wrong class), and BG set up to use Paladin spellbook, this is very doable.

Assassin is a bit more difficult as there isn't a clear analogue. Bard spellbook maybe.

I want to do this, but it will take more time as the options for BG are different. It's not likely to come in with the next patch, but should be in on the patch after.
