A Rider

I have idea if my party companion turn i nto a dragon or bear for example and i have skills in Ride will it be cool if i use him as my Rider pet so my companion is the mule and decide where we will headind to and can i stil fight form hes back some how ,can he stil fight to ?

great idea,
one player could shift into a legendary horse and play the paladin's trusted steed

Ranger and Druid can summon animal why not let them ride on the back of those animal summon? we have see gobling rider could do teh same?
