Obsidian
In short

A huge man, with an obvious planetouched heritage. He is armored in fine metal armor, and carries a large blade on his back, along with a second, empty sheave. His eyes look like clear cut obsidian, though his hair looks quite human-like.

Background

There he was. Through a portal and ending up at the spine of the world. No clue how he got there, who he was, what he was… after roaming for a while, he found himself a good spot to hunker down in a cave. There was a village somewhat nearby. They gave the cave a huge berth and ignored the earth genasi completely. The giants were less hospitable, however. Occasionally, it came to blows. But the genasi had studied the giants and their methods. He quickly became quite adept at dispatching them. The villagers noticed too, and started leaving food and valuables at the entrance of the cave. "For obsidian eyes", he sometimes heard them say. He cared little, but was glad with the food and gear.

After a while he had enough gear and materials to craft himself two Falchions. Giant Slayer and Trollbane, he called them. Not exceptional blades, but very potent against their respective focusses. Giant Slayer did extra damage against all kinds of Giants. Trollbane was less strong, but was infused with a bit of the Earth's essense, resulting in acid damage, vital in downing trolls for good.

Then one night he woke to distant screams. When he exited the cave to look what was happening, he saw the village in flames and a group of giants already approaching. Not daring to risk getting cornered in the cave, just to recover his falchions, he ran. There was nothing for him there anymore.

After weeks of travel, he finally ended up in Baldur's Gate. Sure he can find a way to earn enough for a replacement falchion and food on the table.

Karl Kane. Insane in the Karl Kane.
