With a beard the color of a cloudy day and tired brown eyes that seem to hold a sad story. Still, despite the weariness in his eyes, there is a spark of determination that glimmers beneath the surface. His heritage is that of a person born in Thay, a land steeped in magic and treachery, and it shows in his cunning and resourceful nature. He posses a lean but toned frame that allows him to walk with nimble movements, finally this man exudes an air of quiet contemplation, a testament to his inner calmness and self-control.
With a deep and calm voice as he speaks, his words are measured and deliberate, each chosen with care. There is a hint of a Thayan accent in his speech, but it only adds to his charm. He wears dark brown robes that are always well-kept and taken care of, a reflection of his meticulous and organized nature. Despite his troubled past, he carries himself with an air of dignity and grace that commands respect from those around him.

His psyche has been shaped by the tragedy of losing his son. He is haunted by the memory of his son's death and the realization that his once-beloved homeland was capable of such atrocities. This has caused him to become introspective, and he questions the morality of those around him. Despite the tragedy that has defined his life, he remains focused and determined on learning more about the arcane and its moral implications.
In many ways, he embodies a paradox, for he is a wizard who wields the very tool that was so closely linked to the end of his son's life. He walks the path of magic with a heavy heart, haunted by the memories of his past and the choices he made in the past. Yet, he also sees the potential for self improvment in the arcane.
He rarely smiles, and his laughter is a rarity, but when he does, it's a deep, hearty chuckle that catches people off guard. While he may appear aloof or distant, to those who earn his trust find him to be a loyal and dependable ally.
To this day, he remains a man of action, unafraid to act with decisiveness, even though it was once seen as ruthlessness in his youth. As he has progressed deeper into middle age, this trait has evolved and serves the seasoned mage well. However, due to his privileged upbringing, he still struggles to see value in the simple folk. Yet, his long years as a hermit have tempered him into a patient man, capable of understanding and empathizing with those he once looked down upon, most of the times at least.

No longer the obedient servant of a chaotic system. He operates on his own terms, he is a man of few words, preferring to let his actions speak for him. He now seeks to use his knowledge and abilities to avoid the machinations of powerful magic-users. He is not motivated by a sense of justice or morality, but rather a deep-seated belief that the world is better off without those who would use magic to build a political system to rule with corruption and chaos.
While he may come across as aloof or detached, those who earn his trust find him to be a fierce ally and a formidable opponent. He may not be driven by a sense of good or evil, but the memory of his son's death fuels his passion and his determination his commitment to his cause.

The personal sigil used by Rathmaz is that of an alchemical dragon, a symbol that encapsulates the essence of his expertise and aspirations. The dragon, with its majestic wings and scales shimmering with vibrant hues, embodies the transformative powers of alchemy. Just as the dragon possesses the ability to transmute and reshape its surroundings with its elemental properties, so too does this transmuter harness the alchemical forces to alter and manipulate the properties of the matter around him.
