Deadly Defense Problems

Unread post by Green Monster »

Problem 1:
Deadly Defense does not turn off if you equip a shield. If you are using Combat Expertise (2 or greater) and dual-wielding, Deadly Defense works fine. If you are using Combat Expertise (2 or greater) and have a shield equipped, Deadly Defense does not activate (expected behaviour). BUT, if you are dual-wielding and using Combat Expertise (2 or greater) and THEN equip a shield, Deadly Defense does not de-activate.

Problem 2:
Deadly Defense is not working on my halfling character with a short sword or mace. The feat description says it works with any light weapon OR any weapon to which Weapon Finesse applies. Not AND. So for a medium size character it should work with all small and tiny weapons + rapiers. For a small character it should work for all small and tiny weapons but NOT rapiers. Weapon finesse works with small weapons for small characters in the same way that the medium-size rapier works for medium characters, so Deadly Defense should be working for my halfling with a short sword or mace.

(( Side note, do the devs here hate small characters? Yeah, I find people running around going "Weeeee" and acting like children annoying but I don't do that. My halfling is an adult. My motto when playing a small character is WWWDOPDD [What would Warwick Davis or Peter Dinklage do?] Small spellcasters are snubbed by making that magic missile staff impossible for them to use without paying a feat tax, and now Deadly Defense is messed up))
