Shield Bash and HiPS [edited]

Unread post by Green Monster »

Not a bug, really, just a thought on how Shield Bash could be a little bit better.

If you're a HiPS character using Shield Bash and you step backwards or sideways to break combat and use HiPS, shield bash will fire and break stealth immediately if you still have your opponent set as your target. Is there any way to make Shield Bash check to see if the main hand weapon is currently engaged in combat before it fires? Currently my work around is to right-click on the ground to un-target opponent, then step away, then hide, but it would be a bit better if I didn't have to un-target first because that's such an OOC action.

EDIT: Also, it just occurred to me that it might be possible to exploit this and make Shield Bash "ranged" by targeting a distant opponent, attacking, and as your character starts to run up just step sideways or back and let Shield Bash fire. Maybe. But I don't have time right now to test whether or not this can be done. I will try to remember to test that later tonight if no one else posts here that they have tested it.

Doesn't appear to be exploitable in that way
