Looking at her, basically, what you see is what you get.

Closer inspection, however, reveals few additional details.

She can only been seen wearing masks, that would be similar to what you see, but more irregular in shape, covering most of her face, still revealing enough of facial traits for her to be easily recognized by others. Would be fairly easy to recognize her on the spot, by those whom she already met wearing one.

Her clothes and armor make her build hard to properly examine, but she looks fairly slim.

She currently always carries a greatsword strapped on her back, but also uses many other weapons, drawing them from... somewhere...

On her belt, there are various pouches and few wands.

Conditional for those that knew her from before:

Going back a year, or even just few months ago, for those that were paying attention, they would notice she looks "weaker" than before, as if having lost weight even if she was always slim in her build... so... y-yeah...
Theme song, just the most important one:

Episode 0:

She looked over, into the distance, from the heights of the Friendly Arms Inn. Sitting next to the low walls, she seemed lost in thoughts.

She contemplated the last few weeks she spent at this part of The Coast. Things she did, things she learned, people she met... some once, some twice, some more, some never to see again, wondering where they might be at this time.

She looked at her... beverage, simple cup of chamomile tea, no sugar added. She took a sip, remembering the taste of mead she used to enjoy so much previously. While she could resist its call now, the urge to indulge in its tastes and the following numbness, she could not deny it's call completely. Good times, bad times... sometimes blurred memories... ah, yes... memories...

Bird flew off, from nearby. She noticed it, but payed little attention. She learned not to twitch at the simplest of sounds or movements. How long was it? Weeks? Months? Years, maybe? Time passes strangely at time. She remembered, the past times... pieces of it, anyway... wondering what happened to the ones she still can't get the hold on.

She was alone at the top of The Inn, besides of few birds looking for some rest, high up. She didn't prefer to be alone, far from it. Being among the others kept her mind busy, away from unwanted thoughts. But, she needed some time alone. To process the things she had learned. Some unseen things kept asking for her attention. She smiled. She wasn't really alone.

"Small steps" she said, seemingly to her self. "One small step at the time, and you will get there." She took another sip of her tea, and kept looking into the distance...

Working the Limits

She groaned, as she was gasping for breath, almost entirely exhausted. How long was she at it, few hours, maybe? Not likely, but to her, it certainly felt like she was. She wasn't as endurable as she wanted to be.

She took a split second to glance at her targets, seven in total. "Can I even pull this off?" she asked herself, as she gathered what last reserves of energy she had left, and leapt in the midst of them, her sword in her hand, and turned into a torrent of blades, slashing left and right... for few seconds at least.

She observed her handy work, counting, her lungs screaming for air. "One. Two. Three. Four. Fiv... f***s!" Of the seven practice dummies, four were either cut in half or heavily damaged, with the three remaining dummies standing completely untouched. "F***s!" she repeated, as she fell on her knee, drenched in sweat, supporting herself on her sword in an attempt to prevent falling to the ground completely, now fully exhausted. "So, this is my limit, then..."

"That was amazing!" she heard childish voice behind her. She turned around to see two young farm boys that she hired to help her with her training grounds, that she set up not far out from The Gate. She knew she could set it up herself, but she thought some honest work would do the boys some good, better than to loiter on the streets. She gave them a slight, tired nod... but she was not amazed. Over the last few weeks, she saw some far more amazing things. Warriors, with far more brute strength then herself, seemingly able to cut through the world itself, some vanishing from the sight in an instant, others trained in both mind and body, seeming unstoppable by any force. She knew she could never reach up to them, not by far. Still, maybe she could improve at least a bit more? She had her own style, and, for better or for worse, it was all she had.

But, was it all, really? With a sigh, she stood up, and with shaking hand, she lifted her sword, that to her, seemed to be weighting ten times more than usual. With a frown, she looked at her training ground, deciding that she was not done yet. As she reached for something, not easily perceived from under her neck, she whispered few silent words. In few moments, she was bathed in restorative lights, her energy restored.

"Wow" the boys responded. "Little boys are so easily amazed" she though to her self, and yelled at them. "Hey! You plan on just sitting there on your butts all day! Not while I am paying!

She smiled as she watched them run to fix any damaged dummies, holding her sword steady as she waited, with the tip of the blade looking as if frozen in time, just half an inch in the air above the ground.

Dreaming the End - Part One

She tossed, and turned, as she slept, in one of the rooms at The Friendly Arm Inn. Nightmares were no strangers to her. In fact, she was quite experienced with them.

From simple ones, dreaming of past events, that she wished that some of them never happened. Sometimes, she would dream of them, as they happened in real life. But, sometimes, her dreams would be distorted. Sometimes it wasn't as bad as she remembered. Other times, it was way more horrible than she remembered, making her puke as she would wake up from them. If asked, she would not be able to tell for sure which ones were worse. There was... comfort... even in the most horrible ones, in knowing that they were not what actually happened. It allowed for a bit of self-denial.

But all of them, had the same end.

She learned how to deal with them, in a way. Looking at the bottom of the bottle, sometimes way before going to sleep, provided enough numbness for her, at least not to remember them, the morning after.

Interestingly, as of late, topic of her dreams shifted, from past events, into... something that, she would feel at times, was even more disturbing.

She dreamt of elven like creatures, some of them being the most beautiful women she had ever seen, calling to her, reaching to her. Not in a voice, but it was a call, without denial. It was a rare... nightmare... at first. But, as time passed, they became daily nuisance. Not as terrible as the simple nightmares she experienced, but they would drain her just as much, if not even more. The main problem being, in this case, no matter how much she drank, they were there, each night, vivid and almost tangible, making her feel as if going insane. She would hear a name, at times, in those nightmares. Name that she felt was important, but she couldn't remember why.

But, on this night, as she tossed and turned, there was something different...

Dreaming the End - Part Two

She tossed, and turned, as she slept, in one of the rooms at The Friendly Arm Inn. Nightmares were no strangers to her. In fact, she was quite experienced with them.

But, this one was... different.

"This is new" she thought, obliviously. The settings around her were new to her, but there was something familiar, still. Soon, she noticed, that it even hardly felt like a dream, different from what she had experienced before.

She was restrained, by an invisible force, on indistinguishable object, surrounded by vague shapes. She looked at the shapes, and couldn't make much of them. Some resembled people, in size. Others were too large, giants, maybe? She couldn't tell.

If, at any moment, she would have thought that this was just another simple nightmare, approach from one of the shapes would soon took that idea away from her. As the figure approached, the pain began. All across her body, feeling of cuts, and burns, cuttings of flesh. She tried to scream, but she had no voice. She was alone.

Time passes strangely, sometimes, even more so in a dream. She really couldn't tell for how long it lasted, but at some point, something even more sinister started to appear.

In a form of a dreadful mist, hideous form began to emerge. As it grew in size, looking ever more hideous, it started to approach her, with horrifying grin on its shadowy face, looking as if to consume her. She screamed. Well, she tried, but no voice came out. She was scared, hurt, restrained and alone, with nobody to save her.

"...Dee..." a familiar voice, barely noticeable, echoed in her dreams. Hideous form stopped, for a moment, as if listening, as well.

"Dee." the familiar voice called again, now easily heard. Hideous form started to look around, as if a bit worried.

"Dee!!!" the voice screamed, with the settings of her dream shaking as a result. Hideous form roared, in anger. Glaring at Deirde, it made an unexpectedly confused look, and in mere moments, its form fell apart leaving nothing but small clouds of mist.

And, from those clouds, a familiar person appeared. Deirde tried to call out to that person, but she had no voice. Suddenly she realised she was not restrained any more. She leapt in the direction of them, her hand reaching out. And, as she was about to reach them, the person smiled at her, if only for a fraction of second, before its form shattering into pieces.

She screamed as she woke up. "Kghu!" she attempted at a word, but her dry throat only rewarded her with a violent cough. She felt wetness across her face. She was crying, scared, hurt, and alone, in one of the rooms at The Friendly Arm Inn.

At some point, she managed to gather enough sanity to notice something. One thing, about her latest dream. One thing, that was not new. One thing that she witnessed uncountable times before. One thing, lasting only for what would seem as a fraction of a second. It's End.

Taking the Beating

She fell to the muddy ground, and spat out blood, hoping there were no teeth somewhere in there. "F***s", she cursed, thinking, how this can't be a fair fight? Took her a moment to realize her veil was close to her face, and that she made quite a bloody mess of them and herself.

"I told you that was a bad idea, that thing only hinders you." stern, yet calm voice addressed her. She looked up, at the person responsible for her almost loosing her teeth.

The man stood there, somewhat average in size, but was among the most intimidating persons she ever met. Fully clad in armor, adorned with bones and skulls, his face covered with deathly mask. First time they met, it seemed that he was going to be the end of her, but, for whatever reason, the man changed his mind, and they have been traveling together for few weeks now.

Traveling, and training. Even if the man was actually kind, and had a soothing aura, when it came to training, he was ruthless. They would train with dulled weapons, but she thought the sword he gave her was much more heavier than it was supposed to be.

"Again." he said. "We are not over yet. And take that thing off." he pointed to her veil over her face. " Why do you even use that thing, looks as if you have something to hide?

She gave him a glare that would stop a charging bull, but the man didn't even flinch.

"Oh, and you are the one to talk about that! Look at yourself, first!" she growled at him.

"I know my own reasons." the man calmly replied, shrugged his shoulders, and for just a second looked away.

"Now, there is my chance!" she thought to her self and leapt at him. Man was caught a bit off guard, barely able to parry her sword. As she attacked him, she spotted an opening, made a quick turn, but then her dirt and blood drenched veil got lifted and got stuck to her forehead, obscuring her vision. When she finally moved it away, she would be only be greeted by a heavy club in the face.

She made a turning fall, face down, in muddy ground again, world spinning around here. "We... are done for today..." she could barely hear the words, from the ringing in her ears. With her last attempt to stay conscious, she would observe the man, walking back to his gear that was laying near them, and the last thing her eyes would see, before her passing out, would be his weapons. Two blades, two seemingly identical, twin bastards swords.

Striking the Deal

She walked the streets of Gate, on her way to the Wide. With her current debt, taking a stroll through the Wide could only prolong her current situation, but she made a habit of at least browsing the various good.

Ignoring the disgruntled sensation at her hip, she approached one of the stalls. Exchanging formal greetings, she took her time looking around.

One object caught her attention. After few moments of focused stare, she would ask the merchant "How much for that piece?"

Following her gaze, at what seemed to be broken and charred blade, merchant smirked "That broken thing? Tell you what, buy anyting else, and I will trow that in for free."

"No, I am only interested in that blade." she replied

Merchant rolled his eyes. "And what would you want that for? Even its hilt is probably beyond repair. We have some far better pieces over here."

Seeing that merchant would not let her leave with the blade without proper exchange, she would toss him a bag of gold.

"Ha!" merchant raised brow. "Well, anything to satisfy the customer." He handed the broken blade with a grin. "Was a pleasure doing bussines with you."

Whenever staying at the Gate, she would take a room at Helm and Cloak, deciding she would allow herself to spend enough to cover the bill.

Renting her usual room, she placed her one sword on a prepared stand, that seemed to be designed for two. Then she put the newly acquired broken blade on the table, and would continue with her routine of cleaning and meddling with her armor, every so often taking a glance at the broken blade. Following with her bath, she sat at the table, made herself comfortable, and just said "Lets talk".

The other day, there would be rumors among the staff, about unsanctioned use of fire in one of the rooms, and minor material damage, with, whomever would be responsible, frantically apologizing and paying for the fine and damages.

Achieving the Shape

She woke up from short and invigorating nap, lying in the grass near small creek, in tranquil parts of Reaching Woods. She looked around, at the forest creatures living there in harmony, with a smile.

She was finally here. After long time of searching for information, and the hard last push through a small army of gnolls, she finally found what she was looking for. Dryads!

As she stayed there, she felt like home. Struggling with her recent issues, talking with the dryads helped her in connecting few missing pieces, but there was still work to be done.

As of late, she started to notice something, unfamiliar, but strangely familiar, loving, caring and soothing presence. Every now and then she would even catch a glimpse of something near her that looked to her like sparking lights. As much as she tried, she just couldn't get a hold on what it was. She had her suspicions, but she knew only so little, and did not dare to hope. She attempted mediation before, but with no guide, she would just most often fall asleep. Staying with dryads and talking to them, at this beautiful place, helped her with clearing her mind, and she was finally making progress.

She stood up, and found a place bit farther, but still within the visual distance from the giant druidic stones, that filled her with dread, for some reason. Putting her uneasiness aside, she sat down, cleared her mind, and focused on that feeling, loving and caring presence, she felt before. "Lets try this again" she said to herself, and entered meditative state.

She sat there, for hours, feeling more focused and empowered then ever, never opening her eyes.

"Dee." she finally heard the voice, the same familiar voice she heard so many times before. She opened her eyes, to see, either in front of her or only in her mind, the shape of the only person she was ever in love with. With fright of loosing them again on her face, she reached at them, and, for first time, in a long time, that shape remained stable, smiling at her. Even if she could only pretend to be holding that person, she smiled back, with a single tear coming down her cheek, with her mask laying on the ground near them.

She stood in darkness, on a cloudy night, at her little training ground. She could deal with darkness now, at least with some parts of it. She finally finished with fitting her armor to suit her style. With newly added pieces, her armor looked much more heavier now, then before. Still, she decided to give it a try.

Glancing at seven dummies, she reached for her necklace, and the air around her began to shimmer, as she leapt at the dummies. In few seconds she looked behind her, to see all seven dummies completely destroyed.

If anyone would be present at the time, and with sufficient insight on certain things, they would notice, maybe, dark mist looming over her, and one not being caused by bad weather.

Season 1 finale:

She glared over, at the people talking downstairs, from the heights of the Friendly Arms Inn. Standing next to the low walls, she felt undecided, and angry.

Looking at the people below, she couldn't think of any pleasant thought about them, just resentment. She clenched her armored fist around something, and closed her eyes. Even if she thought that she made some progress over last few weeks, last few days seemed to undo most of it. What little self confidence she had discovered, all was replaced by doubt, and resentment, resentment towards others, and herself.

She wasn't alone at the top of The Inn, but she as may well be. With the cold stare that replaced her more common smile, people there only gave her disconcerting glances, only deepening her bad mood. Their presence only made her more anxious. She wished to be alone.

"Return what is given." she said, in chilling voice, with nearby patron making nervous reaction. "No more, no less."

Releasing her grip, she looked at her palm, and took a long look at what she had in it, with bluish glint reflecting from her mask. Clenching her fist again, she raised her head, with her facial expression switching from concerned, to sad, and finally completely blank stare.

On the Roof

She was sitting at the top of the one of the run down houses, close to the docks, somewhere. Observing the cat that was stalking its prey, she made sure not to make a sound. There was little else do to as a child around these parts, at this time of the day.

"Dee!" familiar, loving and caring voice called at her.

She twitched, a bit spooked, but quickly turned at the voice, smiling happily at the person, not caring that they disturbed the nearby hunt.

Behind her on the roof, stood a girl, seemingly similar in age, but even smaller than Deirde was, returning the smile, with clever glint in her reddish eyes. Kara was always always able to sneak up to anyone, being much more stealthier than Deirde could ever hope to be.

"Kara!" Deirde jumped from where she was sitting, and gave Kara a hug. "Come! I was waiting for you!"

Kara pondered "Just the two of us?"

Deirde smiled "Oh, no worries, it wont be for long!"

Quickly glancing behind from where she came from, Kara gave Deirde a wink and jumped down from the roof, with incredible skill for such a small girl, and ran off.

"K-Kara!" Deirde called after her, as she was preparing to take more cautious descent from the roof.

"Dee!" another familiar, loving and caring voice called at her, and she would turn at the voice, smiling brilliantly at the person approaching, with the sun shining on her face.

Sensing the Motive

She stood in the middle of Soubar, maybe looking a bit weird, near her "Looking for work" sign, with her raven keeping her company. She glanced as the people walked by, sharing few words with some of them.

But mostly, she was alone, absorbed in her thoughts. Last few day were hard on her, and it showed. Took her some dedicated will just to keep standing there, as sleep deprivation made her weak.

People walked by, with their own business, mostly not paying much attention at her. She wondered where they were going, what were their desires, their dreams. As for herself, she found herself unable to come up with any of it for herself. What do people want for themselves? She kept glancing at people, ever more wondering. She was never good at reading people, sensing their motive.

As she was remembering her past, some old and some new events, she kept feeling worse. At times, she would think she was wronged, but most often, that she was the one that did something wrong. But, she couldn't convince herself either way, for whatever reason, making her even more insecure.

Time passed, hours even, and as she was just about to go to take a sleepless rest, she was finally approached, in way, by a towering tiefling.

Facing the Solitude

On a small hill, somewhere, near a certain tree, in a certain forest, she stood there, in silent mediation. She would rarely move from the spot, for days now, with the exception on making a Tree Stride to some other place to fulfill her oath, resupplying, or tending to her biological needs.

As time would pass, few people would come and brake her solitude for a short period of time, but for the most of it, she was alone, with even her raven staying away from her. Alone, but not really alone, as she was never really alone.

Something was making a great toll on her, on both her body and her mind, and she seemed to be only vaguely aware of it, if at all.

Enduring her sleepless condition the best she could and reevaluating her latest decisions, she kept standing there, waiting patiently, as the golden leaves swirled around her.
