Hello All. I had been considering some builds that use kits but im not 100% sure how they work in this regards to feat progress.

Say I start as Ranger and then after second level I enable Hunter. So for my 3rd character level am I both a Lvl 3 ranger and lvl 1 hunter would i get hunter lvl 1 feats like trapfinding but also Ranger lvl 3 Toughness? Or do i not get any ranger feats and only explicit Hunter ones?

Oh yah and other question does a kit take up one of your 4 class max for multiclassing?

AFAIK Kits just changes some class mechanics. Closer definition probably would be archetype

If we take ranger as example, having level 2 ranger and level 1 hunter should be counting as ranger 3, but I'm actually not so sure about it. I only know that hunter takes away spellcasting from level 4 on rangers
