Nature-oriented Mystic Theurge

I suggest allowing the choice between Lore (Religion) and Lore (Nature) for Mystic Theurge's requirements. It would make more sense towards druidic diviners, like Druid and Shaman (Ranger?!), especially when looking at consistency of logic for PrC requirements, given how Hierophant requires either of the two skills. Full disclosure, I think that might make Shaman + Sorcerer way too easy to achieve, so if the suggestion is thrown out of the window for balance purposes, that's fair.

In canon sourcebook, mystic theurge is supposed to be more of an arcane/religion blending. The entry for the PrC notes "Because a mystic theurge casts both arcane and divine spells, all members of this class are multiclass spellcasters. Cleric/sorcerers and cleric/wizards are the most common mystic theurges, with druid/sorcerers more rare and druid/wizards almost unheard of."

So druid/shaman with wizard/sorcerer is supposed to be rare.

Though as you note, BGTSCC Hierophant differs from canon sourcebook hierophant in terms of the skill req (as well as some other class features and its total levels. Of course, BGTSCC mystic theurge also differs in terms of what it grants).

In terms of consistency with what has been permitted for Hierophant, there could be an argument made to allow mystic theurge to allow lore (nature) instead of lore (religion). But of course, the server design philosophy sometimes insists on following what is in PnP, although that's always made precarious by the fact that NWN2 baseline adaptation of some classes (bard being the most egregious example) have never been consistent with PnP.

We have no plans to change this. It is a little more difficult for a druid/shaman to enter the class (in pnp, anyway. On BG, druids get Lore: Religion...), but still very easy. It only requires spending 3 extra skillpoints and taking the class at a slightly higher level (for shamans. 0 extra for druids).

As far as Hierophant, the Religion or Nature choice is actually accurate to the 3.0 Forgotten Realms version of the class. 3.5 changed it to only accept Religion for some reason, a weird choice given the 3.5 version still has druid features.

Fair enough! I thought I'd bring it up. Thanks for consideration.

Ah I always miss the 3.0 to 3.5 difference! Good to know.

the backgrounds Astrologer, Acolyte and Devout also give proficiency in Lore: Religion, if needed
