Reduce Weight

Since we cannot have bags for wands, staffs and other, My suggestion is to reduce weight alot from wands, scrolls and other magical items.
Curently one wand have weight of 1.0 pound, even boots are more lighter (0.5 punds), So yea, Idea is to reduce weight of wands, to 0.1 pounds. Since weight its issue for alot spellcasters (who do not invest alot strg.)

I like the idea , though there should be a downside to having low str , it's really getting in the way of any meaningful looting for low str characters , wands being the heaviest investment .
Even halfing their weight if possible to 0.5 would help .

I totally support this!=^^= The wands I make are less then 0.1 lb each so that would be more realistic. Of course 0.5 would at least be closer though still excessive in weight even if you added gem stones or metal clasps, ect.

Don't buff wands. Scrolls I don't mind, although seeing how many some people use I would suggest maybe the prices need to be increased in merchant shops. I suppose you guys play low STR chars, but you have to think outside of your PC when considering balance.

Nope most of my character have 14-15 str +3, only reason i'd like it for mechanical reasons is I can run around easier while under reduce person spell. =^^= I wanna be tiny and fast!

I'd rather just add vanilla bags.

I rather increase base carry capacity and make it scale slower with strength. The issue is base weight is too small and if scales too well with str.
But also, the goal here seems to enable near endless wand spam. It limits our ability to design encounters and dm events when it’s easy for everyone to have a wand for everything and nearly unlimited uses. In most video games consumables have stricter limits so that the game isn’t broken.
Lastly, I feel small races should have less carry capacity but due to engine bug or oversight they actually have the same carry capacity as larger races despite the game descriptions.

Good idea if this is doable .

Also agreed. I have no desire to make consumables easier to use (quite the opposite).
We have weight issues, but consumables are not what should be getting the main benefit from weight fixes.

I looked into this a bit and it seems like it's controlled by the encumbrance.2da file.
Each row represents the total strength attribute (not modifier). There's a column for how much you need to be under to count as Normal encumbrance, and another column for Heavy for each point of strength.
I dumped the 2da to a spreadsheet and did a couple plots. The growth is pretty slow at low strength levels, but once you start to get near 20 and above it grows rapidly. Spreadsheet here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
Rhifox -- I believe you can just change those numbers in that 2da if you want to pursue this option.
It looks like all races use this same 2da (no adjustments are made for size categories, etc.) The 2da also goes all the way to 100 strength and as you can see the growth rate gets up there fast.

We
could revamp UMD instead of making wands the domain of the strong and wealthy.

Is it possible to increase the DC for UMD checks? Maybe that's the way to go. Sounds easy enough in theory.

Its not topic about umd and who can use what, its about weight characters and not if someone is rich or poor.
What if characters do not have umd and still have some wands/staffs/ scrolls ? Then what ? Problem is too big weith of this items compare to normal weight. I doubt average (str 10) person cannot run with 30 small metlal/wooden/bone sticks in bag, but can run full speed with 10 000 arrows or bolts in pockets
