Disclaimer: I am not a writer, so please bare with me as I attempt this!
It’s been nearly a year since I left Amn, I have taken up residence in Beregost as well as Baldur's gate, Free lodging in Beregost has proven easy for me, All I did was extort the Inn's owner into always having a room ready for me, and in return his possessions and income from the inn its self will remain his, although I take my fair share from the locals in a game of poker or dice, its very easy to manipulate the games in my favour.
As far a Baldur's Gate goes, it has been much more difficult to have an upper hand over local shops or taverns. Most of them are all ready rumoured to be controlled by the Thieves Guild, and although I haven’t been approached directly and warned, The Shady merchant in east harbour has warned me on a few occasions to be carful of stepping on toes. So for now most of my work I do is along the trade way and in Beregost, I still do the odd job in the gate when it pays well.
I have come across many different people here, some I can tolerate and others I despise, about two months ago killed a man named Malum right outside of the Flamming Fist head quarters while he was in custody. Malum may have forgot but I never forget, three weeks prior I offered my assistance to him and two of his companions in cloak wood, For 1000 gp I would travel with them and assist them. When it came time to pay me, Malum ran off running leaving his companions to pay! What they didn’t know was, it was 1000 gp for each of them; each paid me 750 gp and gave me there weapon to sell. Malum on the other hand told me to shove it as he ran away, he later went into hiding. After weeks of patiently looking for him, he showed up right on my door step so to speak. He was being escorted to the Flaming Fist prison by two Naive clerics. Realising this was my opportunity for pay back and to show that no one crosses me and gets away with it. I slipped from shadow to shadow, following them methodically looking for my opportunity to strike like I was taught as a teenager. Each passing moment I began to think I wasn’t going to get the shot off, They arrived outside the Flaming Fist Prison, I jumped into a shadow entering the plain of shadows for a short period of time, reamerging along the wall behind a guard, within seconds my bow was drawn and I aimed at his throat releasing the arrow, mere seconds later Malum lied dead bleeding from his neck, as the guards and the two escorts jaws dropped, they were so surprised by what just happened it took moments for it to kick in. By that time I slipped back into the shadows and made my exit, Discarding the clothes and mask I wore, near the temple of Torm.
To be continued!
