Turning on Combat Expertise while stealthy, breaks stealth. Is this on purpose and if so, why is it on purpose?
If you already have Combat Expertise on you can still go into stealth mode. With that logic, I wonder why would you therefore break stealth going int CE mode?

Re: Combat Expertise Breaking Stealth
This was fixed awhile ago. Also I just re-tested it right now and I can activate and deactivate it without breaking stealth. I'm using the icons on the stance bar to turn it on and off, are you doing something different?

Re: Combat Expertise Breaking Stealth
I want to use CE when I am in trouble and need to stealth.
I HIPS then switch from range weapon to dagger/shield combo first using a hotkey. then immediately hit another hotkey to get max CE, which then breaks stealth, leaving me exposed.
I will test it a bit more...maybe not use CE hotkey but use the hot bar...though its a bit slower.

Re: Combat Expertise Breaking Stealth
Double Post!
I am so important that you all need to hear me twice in a row. Clear the way, VIP talking here!
Yeah when I click the Combat Expertise from the 'Stances' hotbar on the hot bar it does not break stealth. But when I add the CE+5 feat onto my actual shortcut hotbar that are toggled to my gaming mouse buttons, it breaks stealth.
What I want to be able to do is when I find myself in trouble is use one mouse button to stealth, then another mouse button to switch weapons to melee, then a third mouse button to toggle CE +5 ac all in a fluid motion while I am running away, to give me a sudden ac boost in AC.

Yes I just tested using ce from the hotbar and see it toggles stealth. Worth looking into.

Okay its a glitch. That makes sense. Thanks Tanlaus!
The feat really does not suit my build very well - I think I have a free RCR I will just use if I can.

Re: Combat Expertise Breaking Stealth
It's not a glitch, more like a technical limitation. Activating feats/spells (of which this is technically both) is hardcoded to break stealth in basically all cases. It's why changes to healing kits were often opposed by rogues, because it would mean replacing their vanilla ability with a "healing kit" spell, making them unusable in stealth.
The reason this doesn't happen when you activate CE from the mode bar is that instead of firing the feat, it just runs the same script that's attached to the CE spell. The only way to bring the two in alignment would be for the mode bar to activate the feat too, which I suspect you would view as a further regression.
