Veylor, a thief

Another Luskan story, a child born to a tavern wench and unknown father. Abandoned either intentionally or unintentionally as a child after his mother a tavern wench went missing. He spent his childhood hungry scrubbing gore, puke and filth off the tavern worn wooden beam floors. Eating what ever scraps or what was left at the bottom of the stew pots and sleeping in any nook he could find to keep himself warm. He quickly started to learn to steal from unconscious patrons, those who drank themselves or were knocked out.

The First item he ever stole was a small black polished disk. It’s just metal and cool to the touch. When he spotted it around the neck of a drunk he just knew he had to have it. He awaited until the man was half in the bag and when he slumped on his chair against the wall. He heard that inner voice that told him to take it. And with an almost trembling hand he was able to cut the leather cord that held the small disk around his neck and stuffed it into his dirty linen shirt. He was spotted by the tavern owner who trained him on thief skills. He became more valuable than a busboy by police pocketing patrons and stealing from those who have been knocked out or passed out drunk.

As he grew he got in with a crew of burglars. In Luskan’s violent underworld his crew made a niche for themselves by just doing clean burglaries. In and out no one killed no one hurt no one left behind. Some of the crew members started to become more vocal about how burglary jobs paid less than the more profitable cut throat jobs where what was left on the wake was a pile of bodies and nothing left of value. But said jobs only draw attention and attention in Luskan is a dangerous thing. Eventually after a heist at a warehouse went sideways and the clean burglary turned into a blood bath when the leader of the crew confronted them all about how they had turned a simple break in into a massacre now a lot of people where asking questions. The younger members attacked the crew leader, killing him at their safe house. Now declaring themselves the new leaders they stayed that there would be a new course and that they would be gunning for the higher Cut Throat crews.

That evening Veylor, made sure everyone was nice and drunk. He took the best items from the crew including a sword, some armor, a set of enchanted boots and a some rings and left the safe house and snuck out of Luskan where he hitched a ride with a Guri caravan. Months later he finds himself at the Sword Coast as he continues his goal of becoming rich and mastering his skills.
