Biography

History
Erendriel and Lethariel Silverleaf are lesser nobles, Elven diplomats from Silverymoon. They married for political gain, and the love between them was complicated to say the least. Erendriel was unfaithful to his wife, and during his many travels as diplomat, had many lovers on the Sword Coasts.

One of these was an apothecary and healer named Laela. She lived in a small cottage on the very edge of the town of Lhuvenhead, and conducted business there and in frequent trips to the city of Everlund. That is where the two of them met. Erendriel's friend Kumas had a small villa in Lhuvenhead as part of a summer retreat, and he would go there to stay. He would frequently visit Laela, but stopped when she had become pregnant. Laela taught her daughter the basics of healing, but Larael never had the attention for memorizing plants and their uses. They shared a loving relationship as much as a daughter and a mother could.

When Larael was about nine, her mother started to have nightmares. She stopped sleeping adequately, and would scream in the middle of the night, and this caused her to have frightening mood swings. The townsfolk overhear Laela's screams in the night. And she becomes more hostile, lashing out, and taking it out on her customers, patients, and Larael too. The townsfolk slowly stop doing business with her, calling her a witch and ignoring her when she tries to do business in town. Shortly after Larael's 10th birthday, her mother passes away in her sleep. The mayor of the town sends Erendriel a letter, and Larael's father arrives in a wagon and takes her to Silverymoon.

She is raised there by Erendriel and his wife Lethariel. She meets seven elf half-brothers of varying ages. Lethariel insists on drilling as much Elven history, swordplay, language, and customs into Larael. She treated her with strictness that crossed over to cruelty. She demeans Larael for her half-elven heritage, and berates her for being a bastard child. Larael is sent to class with elves her own age, and moves at a different pace than they do. The slow pace set by the elves, makes it incredibly hard for her to focus. Although she gets a decent grasp on the language and the customs, she commonly fails to keep up with her curriculum. Having been raised in the house of a human, she is impatient and becomes a problem child.

When the belongings from Laela's cottage came to the house, Larael was able to sort through and kept many of her mom's belongings. But when she started to wear her old clothes around the house, Lethariel came into her room and threw many of her and her mom's clothes away. The only thing Larael was able to keep was her mother's hat and one of her dresses by hiding them away.

During this time, she develops an innate talent for magic. She gets into a fight with one of the elf girls her age, and during the fight, uses the Touch of Fatigue spell. She becomes obsessed with her own powers and begins acting out using the various gifts she's been given. Using launch stone, rinse, and other spells, she pulling pranks on other students. She starts disappearing into the woods, and acting disobedient.

When she reaches age 21, she joins her father on a diplomatic mission to Tethyr. On the way back home to Silverymoon, she's sitting in the back of the covered wagon when she pretends to fall asleep, and jumps off the back of the wagon, becoming a run-away. She ends up at the Friendly Arms Inn, becoming an adventurer in 1354. This is her first taste of freedom.

Traveling for several years, she finally has the courage to visit her family in early 1361. She lashes out at her father over the way she was treated over the years. He tells her something vaguely resembling an apology and offers her an invitation to visit again. She leaves unsatisfied, but the door open to another visit. On her exit, she sees her brother Felar. And the two of them have a real conversation for the first time. She travels South once again.

Somewhere on her journey south, while she's sleeping in a field, she wakes up and sees a glimmer of silver. She finds a holy symbol of Selûne near where she lay. And she feels an instant connection to it. Not knowing anything about the goddess, she sets out to learn more about her.
