Shield charge gives opponent chance to trip back

The shield charge feat says "If you lose, the defender does not get to try to trip you in return"... Yet they do.
Either the feat description is wrong, or it's not working as intended

It's the feat's description that is wrong. They added Improved Knockdown as a requirement for not getting tripped in return, but never updated the feat's description. You might as well check other charge-related bugs in this thread from years ago.

You're welcome. As you can see from the thread, charge mechanics is completely borked, and you're essentially investing half a dozen of feats while either getting nothing in return or actively working against yourself - that being using shield charge without IKD, for example. It's not that bad on your fighter char as you're not as starved for feats as other classes, but without IKD shield charge is net negative. And so are Furious/Powerful Charge - the former is negated by Greater Heroism (as is regular +2 charge bonus by Heroism) and the latter doesn't stack with power attack.
So keep that in mind if you're planning to invest heavily into those feats. It'd be better to reconsider. Shield Charge with IKD is okay on a fighter for some flavour, the rest would better be skipped.
