Broken Quests?

The day before yesterday after much time and considerable effort I was finally able to solve Captain Merlon's(Undead Pirate in the Deep Caves), riddle; and cursing he granted me access to his treasure chamber...but I could not enter due to a non-functional door. Was it likely some kind of bug or is this quest under revision? Also as long as we're discussing Pirate Captains, regarding The Captains Crew quest, when I played back in the one server days I never had a problem finding both halfs of his crew, but since coming back I've been unable to locate the half NOT found in the Elfsong Tavern.

About the crew quest: those sailors should be in Elfsong and Blushing mermaid tavern.

My journal says I have enough berries for the illmateri, but I guess they're not good enough for her, because she doesn't acknowledge that journal update.
