Custom Background

Would it be possible to add an option to choose a custom background, where you can choose any two skills (with some limitations). I find the Backgrounds are quite restrictive, and don't always match up with what you imagine your character's background being.
I suppose you could take Able Learner, but if I chose that I'd either have to drop Spellcasting Prodigy (the equivalent of dropping 8 feats), or drop a feat that is a prereq. for my prestige class. That's a big sacrifice just for 1 background skill.
It could be like choose any 2 skills from Craft, Lore, Social (Bluff, Diplo, Intim, Sense Mo), Athletics/Acrobatics, Concentration, Spellcraft (now it isn't mechanically OP), Ride. The only skills I can think of that are directly beneficial to combat are Spot/Listen and Hide/Move Silently, so maybe not those.
