THIS JOURNAL IS NO LONGER IN LANGSTON'S POSSESSION AS HE HAD BURNED IT IN THE FIREPLACE AT THE FRIENDLY ARM INN AS A WAY TO FORGET HIS ILLNESS DRENCHED PAST THUS MOVING HIM INTO A MORE OR LESS STABLE FUTURE STATE OF MIND AS HE IS NO LONGER FORCED TO LIVE UP TO HIS OLD, CRAZY SELF.

Appearance:
A generally thin person overall, pretty pale too, but besides that he is well kept and not dirty by any means. When not talking to people he retains an air of suspicion around him and inspects the area slowly but carefully. If he is talking to people he uses a lot of emotive emphasis while talking to make points about whatever he talks about.

The Past:
Langston is a product of inbreeding, his father was a wealthy merchant, his mother a prostitute. How they found out they were related is of little note, but when they did the father which Langston never came to know left his mother with a rather large sum of hush money as he felt that his reputation would be ruined if anyone found out. The money allowed Langston and his mother to live a comfortable life in Baldur's Gate. As such this wealth afforded Langston a decent education and many varieties of learning materials as his mother one day hoped he would become a scholar of candlekeep.

But alas, fate had a different path for Langston as grew older over the years. Do to the inbreeding his heart was malformed, causing it to be much weaker than the usual heart as it were (8 Constitution can never go higher). On top of this his mental facilities were somewhat degraded in some aspects, causing him to hear things that weren't there, or seeing odd shadows out of the corners of his eyes. Do to this, he was practically forced to refine his perception to allow himself the ability to function normally and in doing so he discovered he had a knack for sorting out cues of information rather deftly, attaining an eye for detail.

Because of his deformities, his mother did her best to not let him out of the house, or at least tried to make sure that he was in good care most of the time. Doing such afforded him good habits of the nobility. It was at this point though Langston grew wary of his life as he noticed how the adventurers traveled to and from the city of Baldur's Gate...

Diary Entry 1:

Dear diary,

I was out today, stalking a couple folks who left the local tavern and spied on them making sure they weren't trying to kill me... to my disappointment they knew I was following them the whole time. I don't understand, they were heavily armed and they were awfully close to where I was but then again perhaps they were adventurers like many others were.

Later I preached near the fountain during the night for all to hear about the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness. Nobody cared sadly so I wandered around giggling about the prospect of enlightening others to the glory of the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness...

To my dismay, I ran into a more advanced disciple of the Lord for he knew more than I did. Later I snuck up behind him and overheard him chatting with his friends about ME. Turns out he was not a disciple at all but another one of those who don't take kindly to glorious enlightenment. He lied about his knowledge of the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness. But besides that I also overheard him threaten to knock my teeth out if I came near him again.

Diary Entry 2:

Dear Diary,

REVELATIONS ABOUND! Today at the campfire (where the adventurers gather on occasion) I realized that it was in fact a sign... A SIGN. Of what?

The fire represents the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness

The sticks represents those who serve the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness

The Rocks represents ... oppression.

From this moment I realized that if I am to stay at Baldur's Gate any longer for the rocks that surround me are becoming an oppressive force to the message of the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness. I must as ITS only servant ..... Travel...

After gathering supples I felt like consulting adventurers on adventuring but then something terrible happend.. A Banite was wielding the Torch of Darkness! how could this be!? A lost artifact in that fool's hands?

I gave chase along with the Guards but got lost and injured my leg... lucky some rugged mountain folk gave me some directions too the road back...

But thats not the best part... a fellow who was kind to me earlier... RETRIEVED THE TORCH OF DARKNESS!! GLORY TO THE BRILLIANT ONE!!!

Diary Entry 3:

Dear Diary,

Oh woe is I... I am a coward I cannot... even... get past the farmlands...

But HOW do they!? HOW do those... adventurers.. .Wander and face certain doom?

I met many rough individuals and was manhandled by a brute accusing me of being a Banite! the Nerve! I don't remember what happen afterwards because I fainted amidst the chaos. I awoke peacefully near the shore.. with a book near me... A sign.. from the Brilliant Lord? I must investigate this... It was an alchemy book... this raises many questions but few answers..

Diary Entry 4:

Dear Diary,

I shouldn't have done this I SHOULD NOT.... but .. the Lord IT calls to me... Begs me...

I should never have listened to that short woman!

Oh the horror I lie here wounded, bitten by a wolf.... but thats not the worst part...

Earlier a deer saved me from some disgusting spider! but.. the Deer... my savior was EATEN BY A WOLF! OH the horror...

I killed the wolf but left me... injured. I feel so sorry for it... the deer and the wolf... the blood makes me queezy I feel sick. So much blood here..

OH. no.. someone is coming... Probably a Bandit ... oh... whoever finds this book on my ragged corpse please remember to carry on the message of the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness...

Diary Entry 5:

Dear Diary,

After much chaos and vomit I managed to make it to Beregost. I stayed here for a few days and ate some bread. All is well... but.. I must continue... onward... forward? Backward?

Where do I go oh Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness... If you are reading this... Give me a sign...

Langston dusts off his old diary as he reads his old ramblings, he feels sad that he kept neglecting to write down more information about his travels and the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness.

Diary Entry 6:

Dear Diary,

I feel I should explain a bit more about what happened, you see, after some misadventures I was happened upon some nice clerics, they managed to heal me you see. Heal me how though? I do not know, I feel as if a great weight has been lifted from my mind, or perhaps it was of my own doing.

After some time I spent in Baldur's Gate with my mother (Brilliant One bless her heart) She kicked me out of the house. On my own and afraid I had no where to turn but the road and to once again concern myself with adventurers. Though this time, I plan on things to be different. I want to try, I still fear my inevitable death, but still I will try.

Diary Entry 7:

Dear Diary,

Success! Sweet Success! I found the secret to those adventurers! I know now what begets them to journey into danger! I can't put it into words but, it can practically be anything!

With this insight I am most assured that I can become a mighty barbarian warlord!

I found someone who is of the world of nature and had knowledge of such things as barbarian warlords. Luckily I tricked him into making me follow him along on his journey, during this time I prodded and poked at to which is the secret of such warlords!

And guess what diary? I did it, I found that secret too, its the ability to tap into your fears and bring them out as a force of raw energy. Sadly I can not hold up such a rush of power for long and I get very tired afterwards, in fact I am probably going to take a nap after writing this.

Diary Entry 8:

Dear Diary,

Sorry I haven't been writing much, its been a rush of a week. So many things to write so many stories to tell.

I will write one thing though, WIZARDS ARE INSANE! Why? Well I managed to receive an apprenticeship under a wandering stuff shirt from candle keep. AND BOY Did that man wander, right into danger after danger after danger after danger after danger, blood and blades everywhere, wounds seeping and ooze, GODS it was horrible. I thank the Brilliant Shining Lord every day ever since I survived it, leaving that was the smartest thing I ever did. Though I did learn a bit about magic, perhaps enough to pursue it as a .. "Thing" in the future.

Oh by the way Diary, some people take offence to the phrase "Lord of Darkness" For some reason, They say it has something to do with Bane. Such hogwash I say, only the Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness should be called such and as such. Its no my fault people get confused sometimes.

Diary Entry 9:

Dear Diary,

OH what a week, adventure here, death everywhere. Recently I traveled with some adventuring troupe as it were, I forget their names though. They were composed of two warrior like people and a spell casting gnome. Being the crazy folk that they were they went into a rather dreary cave full of awful smells and noises. Gibberlings everywhere, luckily they were dispatched quite easily. On the other hand I got injured near the end of our journey, I can still feel the sting of those magic blasts, its burns so badly. I was healed however so I am still alive.

Why did I follow them? WHY! I didn't even receive an oracle from the Brilliant Shining Lord while doing so. It was a waste of time! Plus I stubbed my toe when a teleporting spider ambushed us while we were camping, oh the pain the agony.

But there is something amiss! How horribly amiss! Why are people calling me "Lameston" when I clearly told them my name was Langston! Dare I say it? Is it the 1st disciple coming to haunt me again? I mean, I am only the 2nd Disciple so I know hardly the ways of the Brilliant Shining Lord, or is this a sign? What does this MEAN!? Any ideas diary because I am stumped!

No wait, it can't be, maybe.. IT is me, perhaps a curse put upon me by the Brilliant Shining Lord to make me say Lameston the first time I announce my name without me knowing! OH NO, oh no, what have I done to anger you oh Brilliant Shining Lord of Darkness! Have I not pleased you!? What do you want! I MUST KNOW!
