Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
A local jeweller has been seen making the rounds along the Tradeway. Stopping at various locations, she seems to be seeking a number of emeralds for her business in Baldur's Gate.
Offering good prices for quality gems, she is willing to appraise each gem for those who seek to sell their emeralds. Unlike other vendors, she carefully assesses each gem an is unwilling to purchase any flawed offerings.

Since the recent eve, the one known as Mealir Ostirel has been regarded and addressed as Captain, first by a small handful of Flaming Fist, which then turns to be the Fist in its entirety—the title catching on in use throughout the Gate...and lands further.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Ulgoth's Beard
What originally started as a peaceful evening in the northern fishing settlement of Ulgoth's Beard quickly devolved into a rampage of slaughter as small but efficient raiding party of drows suddenly attacked the town, apparently from nowhere.
In the middle of the carnage, almost all of the town's militia perished in a fruitless defence. A good half of the town's villagers are either dead or missing, presumed captured. Many buildings have been burned or damaged, before the drows rounded the survivors up, had them enter a gate, and then vanished, as quickly as they came.
The surviving few spread rumors of a few names:
Valiant
Azmodeth
Koryeneer
Hinzel
Lexa
Yoruichii
Krumarth
who are said to be the ones responsible for having instigated the brutal attack. Despite this, most of the survivors of Ulgoth's Beard are more interested in tracking down their kidnapped friends and loved ones, provided they are still alive.
Miles and Miles away, in the Green Fields
Another drow raiding party appeared out of nowhere and attacked the peaceful, serene halfling town of Greenest. Almost all of its inhabitants have been mercilessly slaughtered and reanimated into undeads, or captured and brought to the Underdark, never to return. The names of Valiant, Azmodeth, Koryeneer, Hinzel, Lexa, Yoruichii and Krumarth were painted in blood on every standing building.
Baldur's Gate
Soothsayers, survivors of the initial raid on Hill's Edge and poor citizens are starting to spread rumors and ill omens about the "revenge of the Spider Queen". These rumors are not exactly helping the city's morale, and as the news of the raids reach the inhabitants of Baldur's Gate, the population gets more and more nervous. Now retired. Xvart's and Goblins have been working together much more as of late. Xvart rat meat is often seen in trade with the goblins, but now they have been spotted working together in combat as well.

A bard with a Feather hat makes himself known in BG. Telling a tale of a powerful Devil on the lions way and a Half-blooded Hero who slayed the creature with his warlock sidekick.

Rumors circulate around Ulgoth's Beard of the sightings of a Ghost Ship off the Coast. Due to the storm that blew through, there were few eye witnesses to verify the facts.

Rumors have it that a caravan carrying several cages of large cats (Lions, Tigers) and bears wrecked and the animals escaped into the surrounding area (Oh My). A small group dealt with the a few of the animals, but none of the bears have been captures or killed at this points, and several lions and tigers are still roaming the lands looking for food and water.

Rumors circulate up and down the Trade Way of unnatural fogs and mists along the road at night. The howls of wolves seem to be particularly aggressive these days, particularly on the nights of the full moon. Recently, there's been a spike of travelers going missing on the road between the Friendly Arm Inn and Beregost, and a farmer's homestead was found abandoned on the outskirts of the Fields of the Dead to the north.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Rumors circulate in the docks of Baldur's Gate and Ulgoth's Beard, especially among drunken sailors in the taverns, of an especially large Kraken again assaulting a sea vessel off the coast of Ulgoth's Beard, dragging the ship and it's crew down into the deep.
This, in combination with increased sightings of a cursed ghost ship in Ulgoth's and the resultant undead drifting to shore, stirring up a nest of naga's to accompany them, have left all but the bravest of fishermen ashore in Ulgoth's. Many in the village have turned to prayers and sacrifices to appease the Queen of the Depths with such signs of ill omen.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Although a great deal of rumors regarding the mysterious mists and the coincidental disappearances circulate up and down the Coast, they are dismissed as the ravings of lunatics for the most part. By and large warnings do not go completely unheeded, but are at least taken with a grain of salt by most, and a healthy dose of caution from the commoners.

Arable farmers up and down the coast complain of highly localised crop failures. The majority of farmers are unaffected. Yet everyone knows someone who complains of some blight causing plants to whither and die, seemingly overnight. The strange thing is how each failure is only a few feet across, the reach of a humanoid figure. Often the rest of the field untouched.

The inhabitants of Gullykin complain about an extremely loud night, during which many noises were heard originating from Durlag's Tower. At a certain point, the earth shook briefly, but intensely, before everything turned back to normal.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Adventurers heading towards Durlag's Tower with the intent of daring its halls for loot are welcomed by a rather ghastly scene, as two dessiccated human bodies are found adorning the entrance of the tower, completely deprived of body fluids, effectively looking like leathery man-sized puppets.
A single sign, bearing an elegant writing, lies hanging around the neck of one of them.
"Rumors according to which anyone who ventures into the Netherese ruins is at risk of meeting a rather eventful demise are entirely accurate.
Have a nice day!"
The sign bears no signature, save for a rather crude drawing of a smiling face, which makes the scene even more appalling.

Two pairs of large, brown, horse-like creatures that have a hawk’s wings, talons, and hooked beaks are seen flying high above the troll claws with some sort of small riders upon them.

Fear and Unrest in Ulgoth's Beard
Rumors spread of yet another sighting of a Ghost Ship off the coast of Ulgoth's Beard. This time it was directly after a ceremony which the many of the villagers offered sacrifices to Umberlee. The banks of the fishing village were assulted by undead and nagas. The local Umberleean priest points to it as a Sign of Ill Omen, that Umberlee is angry. The locals are terrified now, many not leaving the banks or their homes during the day or night.
