True and I am not stating that a outsider (Human,elf etc..) player (PC) will hold higher rank above Drow and Underdark races inside the city but stating why wizards of all walks of life are viewed with a higher outlook within Sshamath. As I stated before no one's (PC's) can become members of the conclave as well as a high rank in a college besides being a student, this goes for outsiders even more.

Not true there is a Sun Elf Sorcerer of the College of Divination named Khorl Krissellian.

I'd hate to be that elf.

The fact that a sun elf sorcerer is even alive in Sshamath speaks quite a bit about how much importance they place on the arcane.

it would be nice to get the schools of magic setup with perhaps distinct application tests/procedures and badges of rank so that faerns could RP their climb up the ladder (even if they never make it to the top).

the rp around an apprentice learning at the feet of a master is quite fun imho.

that's how celith started with raenir back in january.

EDIT: to be clear the above is only an idea of this dev not a ruling nor pronouncement on what the current state of school of magic RP is. The DMs are the final arbiters of such matters and you should defer to them in all cases.

i have recommended to the dev team that in our next update we look at building out a few interior areas for each school of magic that afford the students with the correct membership access to a school specific merchant (you would get a key dropped on your toon once you complete the admission process).

Ok I went to the old forums and brought over my previous events from the past if anyone needs to take a look to understand anything that has gone on in the past and may go forward into the future as continued events or events that tie into some of these older ones not finished, look in Dungeon Master Realms, unders DM Kelsfars events. Sshamath is a moderately peaceful city (For a Drow city) and all races and intelligent creatures are almost welcomed in. The conclave as we already know are the cities power, made up of different feuding schools, all that make up the cities power. The city does consist of alot of slaves (Mostly all are lesser creatures and un intelligent one's) Slaves can be purchased in the Bazaar which these slaves (thousands) are contained in small magical glass cubes for display. Magic is considered a valued aspect within Sshamath and any creature capable of casting magic or wields it is to not be a slave under conclave law (exception to those that wish the city harm or have been banned or considered deadly). Basically Sshamath is a magic users evil paradise.

The Conclave does slightly frown upon Sorcerers, bards warlocks and those that cast divination such as priest, they believe true magic comes from vigorous study and years of research (Wizard's), not those that wield it naturally, gifted to them by a God or weild it in any raw form. Lloth and Vhaerun have open temples within the city and work exchanges with the Conclave, helping them with spells and other things the conclave cannot use or get. Followers of Eilistaee also frequent the city and are tolerated so long as they abide the laws and do not interfere with the conclave.

Often Eilistaeeans come to the city to convert others and to try and free as many slaves as they can (though they will and can face punishment freeing a slave that is property of another without his consent) Also Shar seems to be a rising Goddess within Sshamath and it is known that a Sharite by the name of Nurissa Vyllshan is pushing the conclave to allow Shadow magic (Magic from the shadow weave) to be an official school and for her to take a seat of power within the conclave. The city has ties with the Zhentarim and Darkhold.

Why there is no bulletin board in Sshamath?

BTW can genasi join one of school of magic (as janitor for example ) ?

The in-game bulletin board is a single-instance deal - multiple 'boards' would still show the same set of posts, so having one in Sshamath and another in Baldur's Gate would get a bit odd as the posts magically travel between surface and underdark.

I was playing on Russian BG shard and we had multiple in-game bulletin boards, each of them had their own posts

I was thinking of doing a UD lottery, every UD player interested in it should pay 500 gold for a ticket and once all payments are made a number will be pulled, the lucky winner takes all and second number gets there 500 gold back. As well I will pad it down with putting down 500 to get it started. What do you guys think?

How about a variation of it? All UD PCs agree to lose 1000 XP and the winner gets half the total amount of XP and the Sshamath Council gets the rest!
