[Meri laughs at Juna]

Goodness, don't tell the children. A potential disaster on our hands. Mercy of Ilmater, let this be a lesson to never challenge a magus. How in the name of Mercy he did so, but I dare not ask.

[Sister Juna grins.]

That will teach you to joke to a wizard!

[The women laugh and the cookie jar is safely stashed away.]

She spent several days in the distance listening to the children play. The laughter made her smile, it made her remember something she missed about back home. Friends. Once again a lazy afternoon had passed and she and her leopard had spent it in the shade of a tree, watching over the children at play.

“We must do something for them, Icicle.” She spoke in a soft elven dialect. “Their happiness reminds me of home.”

The cat looked up to her and purred. “It’s settled then…Let’s go find them some gifts.” The young elven girl and her leopard were gone from sight within seconds, dissolving within the forest. They spent the afternoon collecting what nature had to provide as a donation to the caretakers of the children. The pair had put miles beneath their feet that day, returning just before daybreak and dropping the donation on the front step.

On the doorstep lies a bundle of wild berries, vegetables, roots, mushrooms and spices from the nearby area. All wrapped neatly in a deerskin tied with a leather strap. Beside that bundle lies three rabbit, all cleaned and skinned.

[Meri smiles brightly when she spots the gift.]

'Well this saves a trip to the market. How grand is the kindness of the people. Mercy smiles... May they be blessed thrice over for the kindness they show these dear children.'

Big Ol' John Buckturner took the time to swing by the Orphanage with a big wide grin, bringing with him some more toys and put himself to work and the childrens' plaything... including being a 7ft tall horse....

[A well armed and road wary group walks from Candlekeep to the orphanage. It is slow going among the group as Meri, is presently unable to walk. The nature, cause and such are unknown by all save a select few, but she is quickly ushered off to rest.

Over the next Several days volunteers are brought to both temple and orphanage. Meri is not seen out of bed at all for the first day, and sparingly the next few. Visitors are limited, and none save for family are allowed up to the room. She remains well tended by her husband and siblings.

Close friends and regular volunteers take care of the children's regular activities. Tasks at the temple are also handed out to volunteers. When questions are asked about the nature of her ailment, the only answer given is that it is 'Of a Personal Nature'.

Donations of food and clothing are generously accepted, as are various healing supplies, though Meri herself, is unable to extend proper thanks at this time.]

Looking worried, and obviously lacking in sleep, Brother Rente tries with great difficulty to make up for the tasks that Saint Merielle accomplished with graceful ease. When visitors come by they find him in a slightly grumpy state, and he is a tad more gruff than he should be at times when folks start making motions to disturb Meri, having actually dumped one over inquisitive hin outside the orphanage by the scruff of his shirt. He seldom leaves the orphanage. When people ask what is wrong with Meri, he gives them the "It's a personal matter" line with a slight frown. He always seems to have an exhaustive list of donations and notes of the day to day business of the orphanage on his person.

Kaltyra stops by with a parcel of rabbits for the kids to play with. She uses them as teaching tools, explaining some very basic things about nature. Later, Kaltyra seeks out a small plot of land to help the kids plant some fall crop seeds, local squash (if this is as temperate a zone as I think anyway), for a fun fall harvest.

Next week, Fist permitting, she plans to bring over a bird of prey to show off.

[Meri ventured out of bed for a time. She delighted in the pictures the children had drawn for her. Ate a bit of food and got caught up on important bits.

She listens as Tessian tells her of Nari's mother. Offers a sincere prayer for a pleasant outcome, and prays they all return home safely.

Her heart and demeanor are greatly improved by the massive show of support and kindness, even if Sister Juna is insistant that no one but her or Tessian is allowed to touch the tea supplies. Still, it is evident that something troubles Meri a great deal, and she is yet back to proper health... mind or body.

Still easily tired, and greatly out of sorts, she winces faintly at a sharp noise. Though she insists she is fine, Tessian none the less ushers her back upstairs to rest. When she isn't in bed, she is seen sitting, quill in hand, deep in thought.]

A lavenderly clad, fiery haired woman finally makes her way toward the orphanage just east of the Gate. She quietly enters the building with a small, rolled piece of parchment in her hand. She smiles greatly at one of the children as he comes rushing to see the woman who enter.
"Hello there, could you give this little note to Miss Meri when she comes down again? I'll try and stop by again soon to give her something else as well."
The boy just nods eagerly, quickly taking the note from the Genasi rather awed by her hair.
The woman smiles kindly down at the child still.
"No peeking either." She wiggles her finger, though knowing full well the boy will look at the note.

[Meri sits quietly, again lost in thought... her tea went cold an hour ago. A small hand gently taps on her shoulder and presents the unrolled piece of parchment to Meri.]

"The lady in purple with the pretty hair wanted me to give this to you Sissy Meri. I didn't look at it I promise. I just unrolled it to be nice so you didn't have to."

"Thank you dear."

[Meri blinks a few times and takes it, focusing, she smiles before tucking he note carefully into her journal.

The boy eyes Meri critically before running off to get Tessian, who promptly frowns at the untouched tea, and gently sends Meri back to bed. Meri, eyes the writing she has gotten done, the thoughts she has attempted to sort, and goes without protest.]

Kaltyra does indeed bring a falcon to the kids for a brief talk about raptors. She hands the kids bits of raw meat to feed the bird, then set it free once more as her trance on it wears off. She talks about how the rabbits are clever and fast, but the hawk is keen-eyed and mighty. So the two fight for their lives matching wit to strength everyday. She challenges the children to pick an animal they think their talents most match and then to hone their talents so they will win as they grow big.

[She seems to be much improved physically. There still remains some question as to the health of her mind. She seems unfocused, and while tired, complaining of frequent headaches... she still doesn't seem to be sleeping much, if at all. Often times she seems distant, and easily confused. None the less, she is improving. She spends much of her time writing.

Though on hearing recent news... she asks for an assortment of flowers, and even ventures out long enough to gather a few herself. Tessian spends the whole time worrying, but doesn't oppose.

Those that know her well enough... know what she is doing as she sits and begins to weave them into a long chain. Slowly the long chain becomes a wreath.

That wreath is later released into the Chiontar River.]

'For the second time since arriving in Baldur's Gate, I offer a wreath for Justin Crownsilver... but this time... I don't think he is coming back. Mercy keep you friend.'

[Worn from the effort of the outing, she returns to the orphanage, hand in hand with her dear husband, murmuring softly as they walk.]

Merin Stonesinger, a young red-headed lil' gnome in red can be seen sitting on the doorsteps of the orphanage with a basket full of tasty sweets as he plays and sings for the children.

[Meri sits looking out the window from the lofty room that she and her husband share... she shields her eyes from the light, cringing as her headache seems especially bad today... and she doesn't venture far from bed.

None the less, she looks down and smiles at the red-haired gnome.]

A great Mercy, a smile is. I've a long list of folks to thank... just as soon as I can see straight again. Mercy of Ilmater...

[She turns from the window, and drains a vial of ginger for her stomach. She lays down and covers her head with a pillow...]

Mercies... what happened that has left my head so close to shattering...

[She murmurs prayers into her pillow and eventually falls into a fitful sleep.]

[Though still easily tired, and still having some trouble remaining focused on conversation... Sister Merielle Silene can be seen once again making the trips between temple and orphanage.

Those that know her best see her as anything but well, stubborn as ever though, she isn't about to let it keep her from her duties.

Recent happenings have obviously left those touched by events, changed in some profound way... You can see it in thier faces, most especially Meri's...]
