"No, Im tellin you all the truth! Troll as big as a damned hut Im tellin you. Hadda use all my skills as a master swordsma-"
"Awhhh Shuttup Joe. We all know how much you love a good story, but give this one a rest. We only get so many hours in a day to drink this pittle, and trust me when I say we dont need any more of your garbage."
The rather questionable tavern doesnt seem to stir in the least. Joe goes back to his ale, muttering lost words about how it all was true this time and that troll was quite terrorfying. A few hours later however, the whole scene changes. Word spreads that a Fist guardsman saw firsthand a troll three times the size of a normal monstrosity flee south after swimming across the river. The shift from liar to hero and storyteller does Joe good as he goes off on how he single handedly fought off the troll and twenty orcs, and rescued a band of six or so adventurers who foolishly went in without him to fight the evil beast.
"Tellin ya, thats when I took 'is own halberd from his clawed hands and swung as hard as I could. Lopped its head clean off I did. Shoulda seen the look of suprise in its eyes before I brought out the mighty Al-co-mist fire and poured it all over his face."
"Ah Joe, you cant even manage to work the hoe without fumbling like a baffoon."
"No, I tell ya. It was workin with them orcs might well too. I had to deal with two of their biggest baddies at the same time. Kicked one in 'is jewels, other in the jaw. Swear I broke it clean with that boot kick. After all that work though, ye get thirsty. Thats why Im still sittin round youall now, instead of going off and savin more pretty ladies and whatnot." With that Joe knocks back his drink, a goofy grin on his face the whole time.
Though most of the patrons shrug off ol' Joe's obviously far fetched story, there is still a sense of curiosity and wonder about the hidden truth in it all. Why was there a big troll running round the Woods of Sharpteeth, and why in all the hells did it go to speak with orcs. Such questions remain unanswered as the rumors spread throughout the city of Baldurs Gate.

Re: Claws of the Troll King
[When she finally does make it back to the city, Scarlett makes her way back to a tavern, quite ready for some decent wine and a bit of quiet to write a poem or two. Though the error or her choice in venue becomes apparent after she begins to drink her wine.
Quickly irritated by the constant, annoying, chatter of Joe, she considers dicscounting his unbeleivable story for fun. Fortunately for Joe... Scarlett is too tired to pick a fight, or humiliate hapless idiots.
She tugs her hood down, finds and out of the way corner and sits, before taking out her quill and writing. Grinning as her rhyming took on a less serious note... wholly blaming Joe, she put the enchanted quill to the bleached parchment.]

TROLL SOUP
"While I sit here now I ponder...
All the things I've seen, I wonder...
What would draw such a lurid beast...
To the putrid halls where orcs feast...
This simple poet knows too well...
More to this story, time will tell...
But for now I sit quietly and wait...
Tales of fools, on nerves to grate...
From a pool of your blood near dying...
To now before me shamelessly lying...
How I wish to punch you in your face...
The will to not taking my every grace...
As your voice carries above tavern talk...
I can't help but think of how you did gawk...
But I am content with seeing you as a coward...
As you ran about trying not to quickly be devoured...
While I know the truth behind the story told...
I wish to know how the unseen did unfold...
A day of learning earns a day good night's rest...
Adventurers or not we did do our very best...
Still it is surprising to me seeing strangers...
Banding together to face unknown dangers...
When at last the blood and dust had settled...
All worried a bit about into what we had meddled..."

[looks to her and whispers...]
I am just glad we -didn't- walk him back...
[rolls her eyes and offers the woman the second, unopened bottle of wine. She then leaves a tip for the barmaid... gathers her things and leaves... before she kills Joe.]
