I think you're starting a new club, my friend. That isn't what the PvP club is all about to the best of my knowledge. We shouldn't have to check this thread for people who have joined with special qualifications that we agree to abide by.

Good luck with your new club, though.

No I don't mean to start a new club..I mean to let people who are willing to pvp with me..know that the element of surprise is allowed.

Even against me.

I give cheers to someone I saw the other day play dead until. Someone decided to raise him. I have the screen shot an I will give props to him once I get his name.

I know he would have stayed dead..because I was the only player in the area, even at a distance he never got up..until someone helped. I like that RP!.

Again this is not a new club..If someone sets me Hostile while I am two areas away I will rp that I don't know it coming. Unless due to rp I know he/she might have been an possible enemy. If an assassin is hired to kill me...he only has to set me Hostile. I will play ignorant.

I get sick of having to run thru the list before setting someone to Hostile.
I will have a copy of the list next to my computer.

If people on the current list will want me to ask for consent..then I myself will not choose to PVP with them, I will RP but not PVP..because of the element of surprise would not be present...now I am up for ideas and suggestions.

If you strike me dead ..I will ask you in ooc if you killed me or simply knock me out. It will be your choice...and I will do the same..

From what I read I think I should stilll be within the rules if I am right. Please let me know if I am not.

Are you the same as Sel Darkmore? In other words, are you already a member of the PVP club?

I guess I don't get what the heck you're talking about. This thread is for people who wish to join the pvp club. It's rules are clear. If you have something else in mind, I'm not sure this is the place to discuss it.

Yeah, I did. On page two...

@ Egg..what I am talking about my friend is some people still don't understand why they put their names on the list. I am given fair warning so that they will be no misunderstanding after an attack.

Example: If I did not see you creeping up on me to attack me. Other than you set me to Hostile. I will not complain after the aftermath for I was already warned.

Some people on that list still asks for a moment to consent.

As for me Rping dead or rping in prison if caught..that is just me and how "I" will rp.
I will not play the kill me now and get up and act as some magic keeps me alive. It is simple as this, you beat me..I send a tell to you asking am I dead or Knocked out?..what ever answer of yours I will go by.

Ever been in a PVP and afterwards it looks like an OOC show of Law and Order?

LOL, no, all my pvp has been handled well so far.

As for people not understanding what they signed up for. . . well, too bad for them. *shrugs as he stabs one of them in the back about 0.2 seconds after setting them to hostile.*

Thats what I mean..after setting them to Hostile and in 0.2 seconds you kill them suddenly..you get tells and ooc spam like "WHY?" "What reason?"

When the whole attack was based on a hired hit! LMAO!

Knightmare,

Sorry about that. Apparently I just missed that post.

To everyone else,

The PvP club rules are quite clear and anyone who joins is expected to know what they are. The DM's will use the stated rules in the event that PvP problems arise between club members.

Setting to hostile .2 seconds before attacking is perfectly fine and in my opinion, makes PvP more fun and exciting for both the attacker and the attacked. Some common sense does need to be used in certain situations though. If someone were to walk into the Helm and Cloak and attack with a halberd it would probably be courteous to emote that the PC is wielding the weapon before attacking simply because that action would be highly suspicious and quite obvious within that environment (but it's not necessary strictly going by the club's rules).

What about what Sel meant?
An assassin hired to kill someone, does the Assassin have to emote it out or can he just come straight in to kill using the element of surprise?

As long as he sets the target to hostile at some point prior to the attack, it's all good. What about the rules of the club do you find to be confusing? I'm not asking to be a jerk, but rather to find out where the confusion seems to be cropping up.

*Edit* The fact that you said "emote it out" seems a likely clue. Are you under the impression that when we say that any pvp needs to be roleplayed, that we're actually referring to Roleplayed (*emoted*) Combat?

Emotes are never necessary for any member prior to engaging in PvP. There are only two requirements that must be fulfilled before the PvP starts.

1.) There must be a valid RP reason for the attack. It is not necessary that the victim know the RP reason just as long as it does exist.

2.) The target must be set to hostile before the attack begins.

I've been in all types of PvP confrontations. I've been ambushed without warning and have ambushed others without warning. Other times the PvP happened in the wake of a verbal confrontation. All of those situations were in line with the PvP club rules.

I only suggested that emotes be done IF a PC is attempting an action that would give obvious IC warning to the other character of what is about to happen. But as stated earlier, emotes are not and never will be required under the club rules.

I remember when I was given an order to attack someone. I did..but the Dm was surprised by it..and said next time emote my action before clicking attack.

But the element of surprise was the purpose..the person I attack wasn't suspose to know that I was there.

For my part.. I dont need to know why im being attacked. I dont need any declairation, or prewarning. Setting to hostile should preferably be done the instant before the attack is made (or long before for a known enemy) for the reason of getting spells and abilities to work properly. On an RP server, a person should expect, that just like in real life, things happen for a reason.. and anything can happen. If there is some guy abusing PvP, he'll get banned soon enough. I dont want to nerf the whole because of a few bad apples.

That said, one shouldn't use transitions to gain temporary reprive so they can rest, split a party up counting on your fast load time, or buff. That is meta gaming and bad form. You should "only" use a transition if you mean to escape from the encounter entirley. In my opinion it is not acceptable to ambush directly through a transition or do any of the above.

Beyond that... attack me at will, I love it. Abby will kick your monkey butt!

You're login isn't on the list. It's your forum name. Might want to update that so people know you're fair game. ;)

I've rectified this. Laurk had signed up quite some time ago and I neglected to update the name change.
