According to:
Powerbuild rule: You need to have at least three (3) levels in each of your classes by level twenty (20). If you are in violation of this rule, contact a DM so your character can be fixed. You are allowed to take new classes after level twenty, however you need to inform a DM about your intended level progression.
Just wanna make sure, can I make a toon like, say 16Cleric/4Paladin before epic, then take 2rogue and 1 fighter after lvl 20, thus in the end: 23Cleric/4paladin/2rogue/1fighter, since the rule only needs 3 lvls before lvl 20. Thanks.

Re: Question about multiclasses
No, you cannot.
If you take any levels in a class before 20, you need 3 levels in it by 20.
If you want to take another class after 20, you need to seek DM approval AND have 3 levels in it by 30.
Hope that's clear enough.

Re: Question about multiclasses
You're right, they've changed the wording of the rules since I last read it. I can assure you it used to be in there!
I expect the rule still applies, it just got "lost in translation" to the new wording. I'm sure someone will be along to clear it up soon enough.

Ok, just wanna make sure, so if i want to take a new class after epic and plan to take 3 lvls by lvl 30, I still can't take it till a DM approve it right? What do I need to get the approval, some RP?

Re: Question about multiclasses
I'm not sure to be honest, I think you've just got to run your build idea/possibly reasoning past them, as long as it's not cheesy as hell everything should be good. I always take all my classes before 20 if i multiclass anyway.

Re: Question about multiclasses
I have a question about that, according to the rule it sounds like you just have to let a DM know, but whenever anyone talks about it it sounds like the DMs have to give you permission. Which is it?

Re: Question about multiclasses
Ive always taken this rule to mean if you get to lv20 and suddenly decide you want to go in a PRC for whatever reason and you havent already taken levels in it a DM should be consulted to make sure it is alright and maybe talk about how it makes sense for the character. Like say your lv20 wizard and sudden get into the arcane lore of ASoC style playing and want to head in that direction or maybe suddenly get caught up in the Sshamath School of Elements and want to go Frost Mage for RPing but run into the 3 levels by 20 and need to talk to a DM about your plans.
Then again Im just putting it out there as my take on it. I normally plan out the character build before hand (though it changes three and four times depending on the road blocks I find it has while playing on the server or RP reasons that feel right and viable to build on). If I was to get to 20 and feel the need to head in a new direction for whatever reason I would contact a DM and discuss it further just for the sake of staying within the server rules if nothing else. I think it would be rare to be denied as long as it makes sense.
