"A Lesson In Judgment"

A Standalone Mini Event

A young noblewoman by the name of Eliza Grevnian was taking a midnight stroll when she happened upon a black garbed man wearing a hood and cowl. Fearing she was about to be robbed, Eliza screamed - surprising the man. He introduced himself to her as Raymond Hyverinan and promised he was just trying to to make others realize that not everyone who wears black is evil by wearing what he does. Raymond's calm demeanor and politeness put Eliza at ease, and he even offered to escort her home. She declined, her home not being far, and they both went about their way.

"Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Cold"

A Dragon War Event

Two adventuring elves were hiking through the Cloud Peaks when they came upon a rather large force of frost giants outside the Crystal Frost Keep. The pair proceeded inside, battling a small army of giants along the way. They learned from one of the Mystics that the giants were hoarding a large clutch of white dragon eggs. A newly proclaimed giant king warned them to retreat or the dragon would retaliate, but the pair slew the king, taking a strange stone off his corpse.

The adventurers used the stone to enter the frosty chamber where the eggs were kept. One of the elves wasted no time in torching and slashing the eggs into oblivion. As they left the Keep, an enormous dragon flew overhead, roaring its outrage.

Shortly after, another group of adventurers who had heard the mighty dragon's roar showed up in the mountains ton investigate. They came upon the multitude of corpses of wolves and giants and proceeded inside, where a battered and beaten giant Mystic informed them of the elves and that the white dragon, Laximurkcion, was staying on Mount Speartop.

The group of five adventurers set out to meet the dragon and offer their aid, and the ancient beast accepted, saying she wanted only for them to lure the two elves back so that she could take revenge on them herself.

"The Dead Walk"

A Standalone Event

Three adventurers were making their way out of the deep Cloakwood after a member of their party fell. Much to their surprise, they encountered a host of undead as they crossed the Central Cloakwood. Valiantly they fought, and one of the party had a bear companion who traced the scent of the undead to the minotaur cavern.

(( Unfortunately a server crash ended the event here, and the players did not return. Salien, Lucia, and a hin [can't remember the name, please help] were involved. I'd like to continue this in the future if they are willing. ))

"A Double-Cross Seen Miles Away"

A Warlock Summoner Event

A group of four brave souls decided to tackle the dangers of Durlag's Tower. Little did they know greater evils were lurking in the lower levels this day. The party quickly discovered that imps, erinyes, and hell hounds were roaming the halls. As they descended deeper, they ran into horned devils mixed among the usual drow and illithid. After hearing some heavy footsteps, they approached the vault housing the preserved corpse of the black dragon with great care. Upon entering, they came face to face with a might pit fiend. The great baatezu was in a talkative mood, claiming that the devils had been brought into the prime against their will. He promised to help find the warlock responsible if the adventurers would take care of some demons nearby. Despite their misgiving, the group agreed.

The few succubi and hezrou were dispatched, and the party returned to the pit fiend. As the group surmised, the fiend had no intention of keeping its word and attacked. The fight was brutal, but the adventurers won in the end, and collected some of the gold from the dead dragon's remaining hoard. A sinister laugh could be heard echoing in the halls as the group took their spoils and departed.

"A Diamond in the Rough"

A Standalone Event

A lonely goblin stood alone against others just along the Tradeway. Some adventurers came upon it, but as the little fellow only seemed to speak goblin they paid it no mind. One man, however, a Fist soldier, was intrigued by the passive creature and followed it. The goblin went to the cave of Clan Ironfaar, in which the Fist soldier had never been and was very interested in the forges.

The goblin proved it could speak broken common when in a more comfortable setting. It spoke of its stolen "pretty", and the Fist soldier learned after examining some diamond dust that the pretty was in fact a diamond that had belonged to the goblin. The two set off to the nearby ruins to confront the other goblins in the area. Inside, they met with the goblin chief who revealed to the Fist soldier that the little goblin was a runt who did not wish to fight and was kicked out of their tribe.

The Fist soldier offered 100 coin, or 100 "shinies" for the one diamond, to which the chief agreed. Greed overtook the chief then, and he called for the tribe to attack the Fist and take anything else he had. The man fought bravely and though he was grievously injured, he managed to defeat all the hostile goblins. The little runt goblin was so happy to have this diamond back that he presented the Fist soldier with a sword that the tribe had stashed away. The goblin stayed in the ruins to make peace with any remaining members of the tribe, and the Fist soldier left to continue his patrol, new sword in hand.

"A Most Unexpected Guest"

A Dragon War Event

Valerius of Candlekeep was having a nice evening chat with Jade Redford when he spotted a winged "something" off in the distance. They continued their chat and Baalio arrived, joining the conversation. Not long after, Valerius heard a great flapping whoosh and looked to the skies again, but the other two were oblivious. Frey Bessemer, Guard in Training, exited the Keep shortly after, and all four remarked on the suddenly strong smell of the sea, despite it being hundreds of feet below. Suddenly, the ground shook and a great dragon landed on the narrow land bridge just outside the Keep's gate.

Frey was quick to throw himself in front of Valerius; Valerius and Baalio stared, mouths agape; and Jade walked right up to the great beast and knelt down. Before long, the four realized that it was a bronze dragon who had just come upon them, and they began to relax, for legend says bronze dragons are creatures of good.

The five beings were talking in no time, and the four men learned the massive dragon's name is Plantagonox, who hails from the north near Waterdeep and did not realize he had flown this far south. Upon hearing of the evils plaguing the land, the dragon decided that perhaps he should stay and offer his services. By now a rather large crowd had gathered, including Red, Narrisa, Vortex Xetrov, Sebastian Weston, and Earindil Ailusigen. The dragon realized it was too large and shifted into the form of a badger, inciting quite a bit of snickering form the gathered adventurers. After a conversation about the forces of good and evil in the area, Plantagonox wished to retire, and Sebastian and Jade escorted him to the nearby sea cave, where he ensured everyone the trolls would not bother him at all.

"The Dangers of Boredom"

A Standalone Event

Sir Salien Reyer was walking down the streets of Baldur's Gate when he was approached by a fellow knight of Torm, Sir Davon Brightsteel. Sir Davon informed Sir Salien that High Priest of Torm Celwig Olwen requested an audience, so the two set off immediately. Upon getting to the temple, Sir Salien discovered he was to find the renowned minstrel, Selis Vhaire, and escort her to Beregost at the request of the Most Radiant of Lathander Kelddath Ormlyr. Sir Salien and his friend, Lucia D., began their search immediately.

Miss Vhaire was at the merchant camp, and with her friends Zein Milu and Sir Vector Stalwain, the group of adventurers left for Beregost. The journey was uneventful and they soon found themselves in the presence of Ormlyr. He was delighted that his friend Celwig Olwen had gotten his request and sent someone with miss Vhaire. As the Most Radiant was discussing his request concerning the Baldur's Gate Gazette, a commoner exclaimed that wyverns were attacking the town. The group of five adventurers dispatched the seemingly frightened beasts quickly and ventured south to find out why they were coming into town.

In the valley south of Beregost, the companions met Andros Wavelen and the six found the source of the trouble, a massive blue dragon by the name of Acophisinian. The great dragon declared that he was utterly bored and was hunting the dragons out of mere boredom. He decreed that he would leave peacefully if the group could entertain him somehow, which, despite the possible danger of the situation, caused Selis to brighten. She told the dragon a story of a thief, which delighted Acophisinian enough to keep his word and leave without farther harm. Before leaving, he exchanged a few insults with the great shaman Chongo Bearheart, who had stumbled upon the congregation.

The five of the original party returned to Beregost and reported to Kelddath Ormlyr, who as governor of Beregost, rewarded them with some gold for their bravery and assistance.

Sadly, my first DM event and grouping with more than 1 other person. Man, I need to get out of the hut more...

I wished the great dragon Acophisinian would have eaten the wacky halfling Chongo. Would have be a great show, but very short...no pun intended.

And thanks the other members for letting be involved in their group. I was very impressed by the young lady spinster.

It was a lot of fun, and I appreciate the "good" shift for Lucia after refusing gold. It's a really great touch for DM's to see what you are going for and provide a helping hand. After seeing certain posts in the deities thread, I was beginning to wander if I was about to be singled out and banned.

Thanks to fellow characters for putting up with Lucia and not killing her.

Everyone was great all around, especially Selis Vhaire. Her well played bard tale was defiantly a highlight of the evening. Good stuff, and here's looking forward to more!

Would be more then willing. Sorry about missing you. I did log back in with Lucia. Unfortunately it was pretty late here for Salien and I, so after getting no response from the DM channel or other party members we went ahead and called it a night.

Responsibilities come first and all that.

Any time you'd like to continue I'd be up for it. I'm sure Salien would too (RL friend). Can't remember the other person with us though.

"Return of the Twisted Rune"

A Twisted Rune Event

It was a day like any other for the adventuring group of Rugnar Rocksmasher, Gerta Rotheart, Thadrin, Iljon Tichy, and Merlinda. They made their way north along the Trade Way until they ran into a group of ghouls wandering the countryside. After dispatching them, the party of five searched around a bit, and found some wraiths lurking in the hills. They then decided to notify Candlekeep of a possible undead threat. A passing elf, Dallenthel Wyndsoul, warned them of some loud noises just to the north as he passed them. At Candlekeep the Guard was notified, but replied they could not leave their posts of defending the keep and could only act against the undead if the Keep were directly threatened.

The five left, met up with Garox "Garry" Goblineater, and went to investigate the sounds to the north, which turned out to be the bronze dragon Plantagonox eating a rather large shark. He was distressed at the mention of undead, and took flight to scout the area. Soon he returned and told the adventurers that there were a large number of undead in the Cloakwood, but that regrettably he could not move around in those thick wood, and his animal forms would be useless. Groups of all sorts of undead were fought along the way to the deeper parts of the wood, and new friends were found in Trennigan Silverleaf and Lore McWebber.

A disturbing pile of bones and stone circle caused the party to pause just outside the minotaur caverns. It seemed to radiate dark energy. While the majority of the party pressed on, Lore and Arkaine HalfOrken, who had stumbled upon the party while they investigated the circle, stayed behind and cleansed the land of the darkness. They then rejoined the rest, who had met two more companions, Lucia D. and Sienn Seelammaem. The massive force pressed ever farther into the caverns and ruins, battling everything from skeletons to liches.

Near the heart of the ruins, even more powerful undead were fought, including a nightwalker and some dread knights, and a vampire lord. Here, out of nowhere, Elivani Xilo'sciamne appeared, claiming she had misjudged a teleportation. She joined the rest and they entered one final room, which housed a large portal and many baatezu of the Hells. When the baatezu were slain, the portal shifted and the tanar'ri of the Abyss poured out. A balor's death throes took out the entire party. From the Fuge, Sir Arkaine prayed to Helm and Torm, and it is unknown which deity intervened and brought the party back to the Prime.

A few more undead appeared as the portal shifted again, and then a demilich showed itself. It claimed to be of the Twisted Rune, and was plotting revenge for a foiled plot some months earlier regarding a group of heroes that liberated Beregost. The group was unimpressed, especially Arkaine, Lore, and Elivani, the latter most remarking that the demilich should act more and use less rhetoric. The demilich laughed madly and disappeared, and two more balors came through the portal in response to the elf woman's words. Many of the attacking force found themselves in the Fugue once again, but this time Elivani and Arkaine survived, and used scrolls and rods to bring everyone else back. Elivani acted quickly now to close the portal with a Disjunction, and after some words the party disbanded, for some reason believing what the demilich had fed to them...

(( XP was rewarded to everyone present by varying amounts depending on time with the party and RP. I hope I mentioned everyone, there were a lot of people there and this was my first event this size. I owe a few people minor alignment shifts.))

"The Soul Stone"

A Warlock Summoner Event

Catrina paid a quick visit to the merchants of Candlekeep and was on her way out when she was stopped by a strange man in dark robes and hood. He told her she looked like a woman who got what she wanted, and proposed that she acquire a stone that the guards of Lathander in Beregost took from him. He would not say why he wanted the stone, only that it was important to him. The woman was reluctant, but agreed to speak to someone at the temple.

When she arrived, Catrina met with the Most Radiant of Lathander, Kelddath Ormlyr. The High Priest and governor informed Cat that the stone was taken from the man because he was overheard speaking of a "Soul Trap" spell and using the stone. Ormlyr gave the stone to Cat to have the scholars of Candlekeep investigate it further, though he was certain there was no soul currently trapped inside it.

At Candlekeep, Cat spoke with Guide Valerius who was disturbed, especially since the mysterious stranger had been inside the walls of the Keep. He identified the stone as a Rogue Stone, nearly perfect, and extremely valuable. Valerius feared such a powerful reservoir could be used to trap the soul of First Reader Tethtoril, or maybe even Keeper of Tomes Ulraunt himself. The two searched the grounds, questioning both Brother William the merchant and one of the Readers. Brother William had seen the strange man get up from underneath a wagon that had been pulled into the keep by the "green fella" (Jade Redford), and the Reader had seen the man exit the Keep after talking to Cat. From here, the two journeyed outside the Keep to the campfire near the cliffs.

The stranger, who looked like a traveling monk, was found hiding in the trees near the campfire. He looked nervous, pulling down on his sleeves. Catrina quickly acted to pull up one sleeve, which displayed many tattoos on the man's arm. He immediately switched to Infernal, which combined with the tattoos made Valerius think the man was one of the Vholk Rah assassins plaguing Candlekeep recently. However, something didn't look right about the tattoos...

Catrina tried to move behind the man to subdue him, but he quickly spoke some words in Infernal, telling Valerius "We will meet again, brother." The man opened a portal to one of the Hells the, and made his escape as Valerius, Catrina, and a passer-by, Caskia Vandemon, fought against the imps, erinyes and even horned devil that came through the portal. Valerius managed to close the portal with a disjunction spell, and the three went their separate ways, as they had no idea where the strange man had gone. Valerius was under the impression that the magics used were the invocations of a warlock.

"Tooth of a Dragon"

A Standalone Event - By Private Request

Joan Degaulle, ever since first meeting Plantagonox, had a serious question to ask the bronze dragon. She approached the cave where the wyrm makes his temporary home, only to find him already in the hills enjoying a meal. Joan approached him and asked after some polite conversation if she could have one of his teeth. Plantagonox, always polite, did not seem offended and in fact seemed most willing, provided Joan could obtain five perfect pearls for him. She agreed and set out on her quest.

She first asked Guide Valerius of Candlekeep, who had a few ideas. First Reader Tethtoril happened upon the pair, and they asked him. Tethtoril suggested they speak to the conjurer Thalantyr of the High Hedge Estate. As he is a retired adventurer, he no doubt would have a great many things stored away - and always seems willing to sell to adventurers.

Joan took a day or two to prepare for the trip, and when she was ready, Baalio Toublark and Gatewarden Isabella Villame joined her. At the Estate, they found Thalantyr busy working on some calculations. The conjurer was more than willing to trade some pearls for a couple of items he needed in an experiment: wyvern scales and the mandibles of an elder Umber Hulk. The trio of adventurers set out toward the tower of Durlag, but it was a bad time for Beregost as a number of demons were attacking the town. A large group of adventurers was already fighting, so Joan and Baalio continued to the Tower while Isabella assisted with the demons.

Wyvern scales were quickly obtained from the winged beasts in the valley south of Beregost. Joan and Baalio continued to the tower, and once there fought a number of the creatures that normally inhabit it. While fighting, the very ground beneath their feet began to shake, and Joan could hear the scraping of huge claws nearby. Tracking the sound to its source, they found themselves face to face with an enormous elder Umber Hulk. The huge aberration took some time to take down, as its movement shook the ground so much that the pair could barely keep their feet. Isabella found them again shortly after, the demons having been eliminated, and just in time for a large group of hulks to burrow through a wall and attack the party for the loss of their elder. Once all the creatures were dispatched the tower stopped trembling violently, and they departed.

Back at High Hedge, Thalantyr was very pleased to receive the two items, and handed over five perfect pearls to Joan. As the party departed, Thalantyr burst into flames from a spell, but seemed uninjured.

While walking through Beregost, the party was alarmed by the ground shaking again, but this time it was Plantagonox landing nearby. He was scouting for the white wyrm in the area, and saw the destruction in Beregost. He landed next to Randriana Benthesbane, Siomir Danneren, and Abby Winters. These three joined Joan, Baalio, and Isabella in conversation with the bronze dragon. Jade Redford showed up after a few minutes, very happy to see Plantagonox alive. Abby seemed in awe of the dragon, refusing to speak to him except in Celestial out of respect. Plantagonox and Joan traded the pearls for a tooth, and the dragon took off to scout again as the assembled adventurers went their separate ways.
