Monk Flurry with their other weapons

Monks are proficient in Kama, Club, Handaxe, Dagger, Staff...

Why are monks only able to flurry with kama or unarmed?

Pretty much means no monk uses or takes advance feats (Wep Focus, Imp Crit, etc) in the other weapons they can use???

What about some diversity in weapon choices?
