Adding new placeables.
Can anyone give me a modern tutorial on how to add new custom placeables into the toolset? The one's Ive read seem to be dated and require editing the existing dialogue.TLK (along with the other 2da's)file which apparently prevents any future obsidian updates. I'm not interested in copying over old placeables in the 2da but creating completely new ones. Im sure there's a better method out there. Any help or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Adding new placeables.
Are you talking about making new models as well?
Or just adding new entries to placables.2da for people who release models but no 2DA entry?

Re: Adding new placeables.
For now people who release new models and no 2da entry, like the one we've talked about. I was going to give it a go myself getting it in but I wasnt keen on messing around with the dialog.TLK if it ment messing up a core obsidian file.
As far as making new models I have found several tutorials and will be playing around with them.

Re: Adding new placeables.
Actually I tried to go ahead anyway and edit the TLK to get a StrRef # for my object in the placeables2da file. But after editing the TLK, i get an error message saying I am unable to save. :/
Anyway, Ill see what happens without a StrRef #...

Re: Adding new placeables.
You don't need to muck with the TLK.
Just leave it ****. Then the name will just be the file name for the model your using.
So for example if your models name was "PLC_MC_PAINTING11".
Thats what it will be on the appearance list when you go to make the placable in the toolkit.

Re: Adding new placeables.
*tries to remember how he added placeables in the past.... but fails.* Been so long since I have done that. But if I remember correctly it was just copying and pasting in the correct locations. Will let you know if I recall.

Re: Adding new placeables.
ok, here is the quick and easy way using our placables.
Make sure the toolkit is closed.
Get nwn2 packer from nwn2 vault.
Once you have it, open bg_soz_tools.hak.
Extract placables.2da.
Copy line 10286 to line 10277 which is not used (overwrite 10277).
Change the index number from 10286 to 10277 (remember we overwrote 10277).
Change the column next to the line number (LABEL).
What ever you put there will be the name in the toolkit.
I put "Tree_Platform".
Hopefully we are still on line 10277. If not we got a problem.
Change the column for NWN2_Modelname.
So where you see "PLC_BR_RWSTower01".
Replace that with "plc_platform01" which is the file model name your using.
Ok good, you have added a 2DA entry.
Now open our NWN2 packer again, and open bg_soz_tools.hak.
This time you want to import placables.2DA to it.
Click save.
Copy the models for your placable into /override.
Now open our builders module in the toolkit.
Copy just about any place-able.
Click on your copied placable, and withing it's properties tab, click "Appearance".
Now when you changed the LABEL in the 2DA, that will be the name that shows up in the appearance column you need to find.
Click the name you chose.
Did it work?
PM Me offline weather it worked or not.
There is a bit more involved than this to keep our stuff synced.
But this should get you moving.

Re: Adding new placeables.
Ok, just so you know line 10286 is PLC_BR_SAW, not PLC_BR_RWSTower01 which is line 10287. Do you still want me to copy over 10286 or 10287?
edit: nvm just realized it doesn't matter since the one i'm copying over is the empty line 10277.
Gimme a sec and I should get this going...
edit 2: oh wait it does matter as i see the parameters between the two differ from one another. I'll use 10287 PLC_BR_RWSTower01.
