Arrannis Vilamythess was born to a strong family. His mother an elf from Tethyr, and a Paladin of Angarradh. His father was a barbarian from the wilds of the north, his birthplace was a small town deep within the Icewind Dale. His parents met in Nashkel coincidentally inspecting bandit activity that had been rampant there. When his mother, Immyrra, saw his father Derek the first time, he had been attacked by more bandits than he could handle. The had knocked him unconscious and started beating his body while he lay there, unable to defend himself. Immyrra saw this and rushed in, her warhammer glowing with righteous fury. She single-handedly took down eight by herself, in addition to the twelve corpses that Derek had likely made. Once the remaining few fled, she used her holy magic and healed Derek, after which they traveled together for many years.
Twenty two years ago, Immyrra gave birth to their son and named him Arrannis. The boy showed early potential with two weapons, and so they trained him as a ranger. With the help of his father, Arrannis learned the ways of the wild, and through his mother, learned about the elven gods, and chose Angarradh as his patron deity. After settling for a time in Beregost, the family decided to move to a safer city to finish raising their young boy. However, they were ambushed near Cloakwood by some order of shapeshifting assassins. They told Arrannis, barely six, to run for the woods and hide there. Once he was out of their sight, they fought as hard as they could for their lives, but, they lost. The assassins overpowering them with the form of salamanders. Arrannis watched in horror as his parents were defeated, and ran deep into cloakwood where he spent the rest of his childhood.
A few days ago, Arrannis woke up in the Elfsong tavern in Baldur's Gate with no idea how he got there, and learned that he really liked to drink. However, to keep a secret from any friends he makes, he just tells them that he was too drunk to remember how he got there. However, in truth, he has no idea how it happened. He has since resigned himself to the fact that, maybe, Angarradh had a hand in his escape.

"I have heard good and bad about the surface. But tell me this: Can it really be any worse than a society ruled by Matriarchal Spider-Worshipers and slavery?" ~Darius Fellbane
