A crowd looked at the phantom... Was he arguing with the air, creating rebuttals to things said before-hand. What exactly was the point he is trying to drive home apart from his own insanity?

((Please note, this is not like the auction board where it's based upon some form of a notepad system that allows people to argue even though the other person isn't there...))

ooc: the questions were issued from the crowd when phantom began talking. he was not arguing with the air, but responding to those questions that were being asked of him from the mob that had been gathering . i did not call foul when the crowd jumped at him and started asking him questions, there is no reason to call foul when i'm trying to answer them. it's called fair play.

((Not calling fowl, but I would imagine at the very least then you are muttering under your breath more than debating with him (I rollplayed the citizens to thinking you were debating, afterwards). If you were muttering please ignore me. However, if I were ever going to be a masked man ontop of a roof trying to "deface" the current authority, I wouldn't want an open debate about it. I would just ask a bunch of rhetorical questions aimed to sully the name of the Fist))

The Elfsong was abuzz after the recent departure of Elias and his evening dinner company. All could overhear the opinion of the Exarch concerning those involved in the recent happenings at Candlekeep.

"I would have you know my friend, that Captain Crownsilver is a force of good here. Though I do not fully agree with his methods at times, he has my trust. I would fully support him in any action that he has taken, and will defend him as such."

As Elias turned took to his glass of milk, his companion took the opportunity to question him further.

"Do you think this Red to be guilty of his accused crimes? If so , what do you say of Candlekeep?"

The Exarch's eyes held a sorrowful look as he set down his glass and answered the man's question.

"I can only say that I have no reason to doubt the word of Phantom. His information gathering prowess has never faltered in the past, nor have his actions in defense of the innocent. If this man is guilty of his crimes, he will pay dearly for his transgression. An affront to all that Lady Mystra holds dear will not go unpunished. Word has been spread for some time to those who see behind the veil that blinds that this man has been doing exactly what he stands now accused of."

Elias closed his speech by taking a mouthful of berry pie.

"And what of Candlekeep? Why would they harbor such a miscreant?"

The man was virtually leaning on the edge of his seat, forgetting the food in front of him as he asked the question.

"To be honest, I have no insight as to why they would harbor those who seek to harm others. My concern grows with each passing day that there is more going on within their walls than we all would know. They speak of neutrality in all matters, yet many evil deeds these days seem centered around their number. When asked for their aid in a matter of the safety of others they are unresponsive at best."

Elias took another bite of the hot berry pie, and another large gulp from his milk glass before he continued.

"On my own travels there as of late I have been treated with a callousness as if I were a threat. Treated as though I've never set foot inside their walls. It pains me to speak as such about the great keep, but it must be said. The only way to right what is wrong is to speak openly and honestly on the matter. With that, I'm afraid I must take my leave, as I have urgent matters to tend to elsewhere. Mystra guide you my friend."

The Exarch stood, and offered a slight bow to his company. He set enough coins on the table to pay for both meals, and exited the Elfsong. His brow furrowed slightly as he heard the loud buzz of voices emanating through the windows of the tavern.
Elias Goodmane: Retired....
Rakhir: Young orphan half elven archer
Halvor Grizwold: Boisterous and good natured fightin man Dead
Weung Xaiwei: Foreigner
Hargriss Hammerfist: Boisterous dwarf "Gnoll meat's greasy, liver's good fer eatin though."

The buzz is still in the air. The trial, Cownsilver, Red the wizard, so on and so on.

*picks up the recent The Baldur's Gate Gazette*

*looks at the first article*

"Raldring the Red captured and killed by the Flaming Fist"

That can't be right? Can it? The thoughts starting to enter his mind.

So much for a trial. Then again is what is reported true?

What does this mean for the relations between Candlekeep and BG?

Can't keep the thoughts from reentering the mind. Interesting times are ahead for the coast. Is that good or bad??!! Someone is going to benefit from the changes in the air. Like always.
