Not to TC,

But maybe just host a "traveling merchant NPC" who is stuck outside of CK who needs to restock?
Doesn't sell anything except basic potions and healing items, but buys items at discount to "restock his caravan".

From what I recall, most of the items sold at Phydias/Central Atrium Merchant is also sold at one or two other merchants.

The main annoyance, is for folks that lug too much loot from cloakwood or other close areas to find a place to dump items and/or resupply healing items.

I may be completely wrong in my assumptions though...

Maybe once the Friendly Arm is up and going (wonder when that's planned?) that will help alleviate things.

I was a little confused from the posted rules, I have a very friendly and tame Grey Orc who is rather enamored of "Oghmas, who am God of read all books". I totally enjoy the bad attitude given to me and other orcs, it is a HUGE boon to rp'ing.

Am I to be granted entry to Candlekeep? I typically keep myself all sealed away around towns, and have always been removing my helmet before entering(candlekeep) to peruse the merchants or visit the temple, and have been pretty solidly rp'd(when there are people present) with the "looks at the Orc uneasily" or "whispers instructions to guard as the Orc passes" actions etc etc.

So again, just to clarify in order to help me IC, are grey orcs allowed into Candlekeep? I want to know the rules before I throw an IG fit

AFAIK, Grey Orcs are permitted within Candlekeep, as long as they are not there to cause problems. I know for a fact Kaltyra Dryne, Grah'Thok Muz'Grub, and Kor'Kron come and go from Candlekeep as they please, rping with the staff as they come through.

From what I was told to watch for while on Guard Duty, no magical wards, stealth, weapons, or masks/face covering helmets within Candlekeep. Unless I misunderstood something or some information was not passed along, that should be accurate. Maecius, Longshot, or Tahlisar would be able to verify if I missed anything.

Orcs are allowed, but generally we keep an eye on you unless you're familiar.

ooc: I agree with the previous for one reason. I am relatively new to the server and tryin my best to play a cheerful sorc. still on the part of rumors, auctions.. rules and postes.. come on guys, this forum is HUGE! I have trouble finding what I am looking for if I KNOW what I am looking for! a sign or script would really help. and then another problem i it takes a lot of time finding things out IC.

I don't care that it takes time.. I do care that it has consequences. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse.. agreed. making the rules visible or easy to find out is the responsibilty of the ones who impose them on you. even if this is not a "modern" society.

Either make sure IC the rules that are not stated clearly in the server rules section are appareant in some other way... or don't wine to noobs who want to make an effort and punish them regardless.

(my sorc got greater breached on his 1st week on server, 33% of my time spent on this PW was on reading the forum... :( player might as well have killed me or the guards would 've.)

--on a more cheerful note.. can players get DM rewards for helping noobs up too speed? my char spent up to 20k helping noobs to get goin :) --

I compiled a clarified list, found here:

Subject: The Laws of the Lands

Hope that helps.

Should have made note in this thread when it went in, but all the Candlekeep guards now have a dialogue option that will state the laws IC and In-game. Unless it is your absolute first time visiting the Keep, it is not your fellow players fault for not taking time to talk to the guards and find out. I will agree though, and can state first hand, there was a degree of leniency for players learning the rules. I actually play one of the CK guards, and used make note of who I have already stopped for breaking laws, and explained them to. I would generally give someone "one freebie" (except Darren :P He declared himself a bandit and ran at the gate with his sword out), and explain the laws.

But now that the laws accessible ingame, it really is on the player to take the time to talk to the local NPC guards and learn them. Just my personal thoughts on the matter. And a HUGE thank-you to Duster for implementing that.

Tarsakh 15. The gates of Candlekeep closed to visitors at noon... Guards turn away visitors until the morning.

The Keep is in a bit of an uproar. Lights are seen flashing at the northern tower early in the night, followed by a brief lockdown of the keep as guards put out various fires and injured parties are shuffled to the infirmary.

My name is Arionna Lo'ran, I was told that some of your scholars were investigating a matter with Malarite and Black orcs. As an initiate of the Radiant Heart and a Mathor of Doron Amar I would greatly like to meet with those people to discuss with them and help as much as I can. My people are concerned by this whole situation and I would like to help in any way I can. Could it be possible to meet with one of the person investigating this matter ?

Thank you for taking the time to read me
Waiting for a reply,

Arionna Lo'ran
