PvP question concerning witnesses.

Unread post by Vadenor »

i have a problem ive been mulling over.

If you are an assassin, and you take a contract, or other people simply decide to attack you and you defend yourself and kill them. How can you call yourself a competent hit man and leave loose ends, aka witnesses, running about?

the only obvious course, once committed to action, is to remove all unintentional complications.

by your angle, by being a witness they consented to pvp....

yet they did not consent to pvp, nor can you give them an RP out since the point is to silence them....

also if a contract details it takes place at a certain place and to remove all witnesses in the contract, do i have a right to kill everyone in that area?

All assassinations taken under contract are to be cleared and overseen by a DM. This allows the assassin to do their job without announcing it to the victim, but still be sure the rules are overseen and followed beyond that. When you receive a contract, PM the DM staff and we will clear it or not, then oversee it if it is cleared.

It's just like Katzenjammer says. :) The assassination rules, as described in the server's PVP rules:
<< Assassinations >>
  • If you have been contracted to assassinate someone, you must inform the DMs of this contract. The DMs need to know who has hired you, who you are targeting, and how much you are being paid.
  • In order to ensure fair play, and to confirm that an assassination has occurred, a DM must be present whenever an assassination takes place. If a DM does not legitimize an assassination after one has occurred, it is not considered an official assassination, and the assassin in question is vulnerable to being punished for breaking the standard PVP rules.

In general, if you have to kill more witnesses than targets, you're doing it wrong.

Witnesses don't automatically consent to PVP by being there. You chose to engage in PVP and kill someone. They're being passive. If a DM is overseeing the hit, they may give you permission to remove a witness due to happenstance, but generally you should plan such that you don't have a bunch of bystanders.
