Not even with 100 Lore.

If I could, I'd make the check per-word, but alas.

There is something related that is bothering me. Spells are too easy to detect, a character with no ranks in spellcraft can detect spells (and use it for RP), this hurts Stormlords the most, their shock weapon ability, it's too easy to detect.

I'm not sure if it requires spellcraft or not, but either way it is too easy to detect, a character with no spellcraft (who should not have any knowledge with magic), can detect it. I think this should be fixed.

You think it should be harder to figure out why someone calls out a prayer to the sky, holds up their spear, and has it struck by lighting? All while wearing an eye-patch?

Sure. I'll think about it.

Ah yes, the prayer, i am pretty sure that one calls out to the sky when a person in FR casts any lightning spells from the sky.

And now you are generalizing, not all Talassans are stupid brutes. They see the best time to use their power. Just as not all Paladins should be Lawful Stupid.

EDIT: If the onlookers have not seen this character act in a suspectible manner that would make them sucpicious of him or her being a stormlord it it makes the most sense if they would suspect that it was a lightning spell form the sky that failed.

Oh, and call of lightning, call lightning storm, these spells are pure awesome.

Actually, followers of Talos are renowned for their mindless destruction and random acts of violence; not to mention aggressively evangelizing Talos and demonstrating his power to evoke fear in the masses.

All priests of Talos are required to wear an eye-patch.

Stormlord is a very narrow prestige class.

Yes, that makes sense if they have an area to reatreat to should things go bad. But only and idiot says "Hello, i'm a Talassan, i'm going to destroy you all" when the talassan doesn't have the power to face all the do-gooders.

What you are asking goes beyond instinct. A person with a shred of intelligence does not ignore their survival instinct, heck even stupid people follows it sometimes.

So, are you asking for permission to be smart, or asking us to get everyone else to play dumb?

The feat names (since it is a feat, not a spell) will be displayed on activation of the power. It's visually distinct to the point of the feat name being lipstick on the proverbial pig, though. We could name it "Totally Not Shocking Burst Weapon" and I doubt player reactions would change.

At least you see what I mean...sadness...Makes me annoyed when I am talking to someone and they say..."err could you repeat that, I missed it" Then I scream at them for their cheater methods and sigh, switching each sentence I say to a different language I have...

The way I've been playing it is, that when I roll succesfully my character understands enough pieces of the sentence to understand the obvious point made. The moment they start talking a bit more ambigious on their own language, my character is clueless as to what their statement actually means. Just because they use a phrase well known in English doesn't mean it translate word for word in Elven, oricsh or whatever other language it might be.

Example1:
Unknown language: "Hehe, let's kill that idiot with the top hat!"
Lore check passed - kill - top hat.
Conclusion: They're going to kill the guy with the top hat!

Example2:
Unknown langauge: "Let's ensure the handsome fella with the top hat sleeps with the fish, shall we?"
Lore check passed - top hat - sleeps - fish.
Conclusion: They're talking about the guy with the top hat, wants to take a nap and go fishing.

Lucky for me, most often people are rather blunt when talking through the language generator =P

That's because we're really limited in the lenght of what we type in the translator.

Well, if you break it up in three different entrances, chances are at least one won't be translated... so that'll make it even more confusing.

and there's three times the chance of RP XP for using the translator... I might start speaking different languages In Game now! =O

I where in an event, where they talked a language my char didnt have. And often i didnt understand it (i do have quite a bit of points in lore with him) But every now and then, i would understand some.

And on spellcraft. I know for a fact that there will be times you dont know what spell is cast, if you dont have the points for it.

DOGMA: Life is a combination of random effects and chaos, so grab what you can when you can, because Talos may take you to the afterlife at any moment. Preach the might of Talos, and always warn others of the forces only he can command-- the fury of all Faerun. Walk unafraid in storms, forest fires, earthquakes, and other disasters, for the power of Talos protects you. Do so publicly whenever possible, so that others see that only Talos can protect them. Make others fear Talos by showing the destruction he and his servants can cause. To avoid tasting his fury, pray to him energetically and tell all folk that such observances-- and only such observances-- can protect them from the furies of gales, hailstorms, winds, floods, droughts, blizzards, hurricanes, and other natural dooms. Hurl such forces at one's foes if Talos deems a place or a person worth defending. One cannot afford to ignore Talos, but must bow down and worship him. Proclaim this message to all and show everyone the destruction even the slightest of the servants of Talos can cause.

They do come off as "stupidly evil" to me

Is there any clarification on Lore skill vs. Language usage? Id really like to see something on this. Possibly DCs added to given languages if Lore is eligible for "understanding".. I see people that obviously dont have X language respond to people using it, based entirely on their lore skill.

I personally ignore all succesfull lore checks, and only RP languages I can speak as well. It makes no sense you can "understand" fragments of a language but not speak it to the same extend.
I can i.e. understand quite a bit of german IRL, which is why I can also speak it partially.

But since I have no idea what russians are saying, I cant pronounce more than two commonly words and could deffiantely NEVER eavesdrop on a conversation between two.

Is it possible for the staff to make a ruling on this or discuss it with eachother, been bothering me a while now.

Thanks in advance.
