Kelan Vidar - bio/idea Please help refine it.

I need help, Please if anyone has questions post them here or PM me, I just want to make a back story that fits in with the lore and history of the D&D universe, thank you.



This is just a work in progress so I’ll need the help of those familiar with warlock lore.

note: I am not a writer by trade, so please excuse my grammar problems, either ignore them or help me fix them, I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

The Beginning

The story starts with an ordinary man, Fallin Vidar, husband of Jezabel was just an ordinary man living an ordinary life until one day he got himself in a tough situation, the events that unfolded forced him into a position to make a deal with a Devil, (name unknown for now maybe add it later?) and after that, well I’m sure as you know when making deals with monsters, things got bad, but in the end Fallin was able to rite his wrong by gathering men and women to battle this Devil, but right before the Devil was slain it cast a curse on Jezabel, the curse of mothering a baby Demon.

Now when they went to see a priest (need help with what God) the priest used his blessings and found no sign of a Demon inside of Jezabel’s womb, only the sign of life. You see Jezabel was pregnant with Fallin’s child but only buy a few weeks, so even though there were no signs of a Demon spawn, the priest still insisted on doing readings on here womb.

Nine months later Jezabel gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and they named that boy Kelan, after the Paladin that gave his life so that the Devil could be brought down. Now here is where the story begins. At first everything was going fine, until Kelan began his adolescent stage in his life, that’s when things became unstable. Most boy’s when they get angry they shout, stomp around, throw temper tantrums you know, but not Kelan, the curse was still real and when Kelan got to angry and lost control a terrible power emitted from him and caused great chaos and destruction around him, but during these “events” he would have a nightmare that he was in a terrible place full of burning bodies and great pain, but to him it was real, and when he came to he would only see the end result of what these “blackouts” did to the people and world around him.

When Kelan became the age of 17 he could no longer take the constant medicine, both herbal and magical nor the ridicule of the people around him, so he set off looking for answers. He grabbed up a few belongings, some money, and the Bastard Sword that Kelan the Paladin wielded and set out.

Every priest he sought help from labeled him a Demon and tried to slay him, when Kelan sought the aid of the, shall we say “not so pure” type they would try to exploit him and lie about being able to help him, so in the end Kelan decided it best to just investigate this matter on his own by asking certain questions that my raise an eyebrow or two, but not suspicions about him having dark magic within him. This investigation has lead him to The Sword Coast hoping to find an answer about why he is the way he is.

General Idea:

Ok so I read up on this site about Warlock lore.

To my understanding a Warlock can gets their power from making a pact with a Devil, Demon, Fay or other such creature so here is my idea.

When the curse was cast, it was a curse to create a type of lets say “artificial” life, a creature created out of magic, but the miracle of natural life was already being created, so I’m thinking that instead of the curse being completely ruled out, it instead only half way worked.

What I mean is that the “soul” or “spirit” of the demon spawn was the only thing to manifest and it merged with either the Embryo or Fetus (not sure at what stage would be best).
With this in mind instead of creating a Pact with a Devil or what have you, the spirit of the demon and the physical body of Kelan work as one, think siamese twin or ying yang, so in a way the “pact” was already im place.

Now this is where character development could get really fun. As a demon spirit it was born into existence this way, so it doesn’t know how it should be. What I mean is that if you were born in an area of killers, being a killer would seem normal and NOT being a killer would seem strange and foreign to you.

But here’s the twist, the more information Kelan gains about his “curse” the demon spirit also gains this knowledge, so after Kelan finds out about this being existing along side him, he now has to find a way to extract, contain, or kill it, but mind you he must keep the powers he posses only because my character is going to be a front line fighter with dark magic as his beck and call (think eldritch master but with warlock instead of wizard)
