Caedis Praedurum - Memories Made, Memories Lost
Name: Caedis Praedurum
Race/Tone: Human, though complete lineage unknown. Moderate sun-tanned face, neck and hands. Pale white where armor regularly covers however.
Height/weight: Tall and thick by human standards. Very muscular though not terribly toned. Roughly 6'3" 240lbs.
Hair: Auburn, long and tied in the back. Matching well-trimmed beard with a few speckles of grey.
Recognizable Features: Always in some form of well-polished full plate, with or without helm. Presently dons a polished/white-painted tower shiled, and plum cloak with matching hood. Emerald green eyes under a furrowed brow. If not wearing a helmet or hood, a small birthmark on lower left portion on his neck is visible. It looks much like a gauntlet. Movements are sharp and direct as is his voice. "Soldierly" would be an apt description for most encounters.
Two hand-and-a-half swords are slung diagonally across his back. A third remains at his left side. He switches primary weapons based on expected enemies. While he is no Weapon Master, he appreciates a fine blade. On further inspection, one blade is clearly blessed and of Dwarven make. The second is an ornate, blunt-tipped sword made of Cold Iron. A third is a rather unasuming blade forged from Alchemical Silver.
Present Profession: Servant of Helm, Ally of the House of the Triad, and Captain in service to Nashkel's Blades.
Speech Pattern: Usually professional and well-spoken, though occasional less-than-proper words are uttured. Occasionally makes a jab towards women that take to the field of battle. Will openly curse invisible passers-by or those with their faces hidden assuming they are knaves, cowards, or both.

Re: Caedis Praedurum - Memories Made, Memories Lost
*A small bound book contains hastily written notes and thoughts of Caedis Praedurum. The writting is often only barely legible and usually just main points or things of some importance are kept. The pages are all weathered, some of which have ink so faded the entries are difficult to make out at all.*
Day 1
Figured I should keep a log, in case my memory fails me again.
I cannot remember anything before three days ago. "Woke up" in the tavern - no signs of head injury. Don't know what to make of it.
Was wearing a full set of quality platemail, sans helmet. Some gold leaf detailing on it. Had a morningstar, hand-and-a-half sword, shield. All good quality. Very little coin in a small bag. No personal effects for the most part. Two small metal plates hung on a chain around my neck. Both say the same thing. "Caedis Preadurum." It felt as if it were my name. Not sure.
Found birthmark/possible tatoo(?) on neck. Gauntlet or hand, appears to be backside of righthand. Unsure of meaning.
Met a gorgeous and talented woman outside the tavern. "Selis" was it? Was glad that platemail keeps things from becoming inappropriate/obvious.
Short on coin. Seeking employement with the Fist. Meanigful job/enough coin to feed me. Ought to do the trick.
Note: People seem to believe I am a Paladin. Am I? I could be. Considering I lack the memories... I suppose I could just as likely be a knave, but doubtful. No telling from past, but Paladin is possible. Can only control present/future of growth. Frustrated.

Day 13
Training for some time to get swordarm up to par for entrance to Fist. Met people/merchants.
Maltz: he's a ripoff, but not as bad as the mage in the Sundries place. That place is a racket.
Spoke to several inhabitants of Baldur's Gate. When asking about tatoo/birthmark, most learned individuals agree is either Torm/Helm. Not sure.
"Jonas" individual: Paladin? Appears somewhat learned in divine. Must seek as divine powers are coming to me. Not sure where from.
Note: The lands appear familiar to me, but the people do not. None of them. Why is that? Solution to mystery possible clue to identity?

Day 16
Stopped training too long; began to think.
Do I have a wife? Children? Occupation/trade? Who am I? What was I?
Continued training for possible Fist application.
-Knaves killed: 61 and counting.
-Wolves killed: 142 and counting.
-Gnolls killed: 46 and counting.
Blade skills sufficient. Morningstar is lacking though still useful. Must work on defense and then apply. Must apply soon, coin is short again. Jorn won't buy these pelts forever.
Note: Found great joy in disposing of thieves. Curious.

Re: Caedis Praedurum - Memories Made, Memories Lost
Day 19
Found hobgoblins in the lands where wolves dwell. Caught off guard. Hobgoblins used fire attacks. Hands burnt bad, Illmaters will patch up. Woke; saw Fist, Orc called "Dog," Elf (gave whisky), others all around me. Condition bad, immediate tratement rendered. Was good enough to go back to town. No time for names, sought treatment quickly.
Note: Get helmet with full face. Now missing eyebrows/beard. Illmaters say will grow back though. Good news.
Setback: Several days needed to heal. Fist application on hold due to injury(s).

Day 21
Illmaters are talented.
Full helm functional, yet not aesthetically pleasing. Hinders sight as well as ability to communicate, which would be an issue in groups. Now seeking full helm sans coverage of face.
Might have to hire artist/blacksmith to add detail work. Fine armor needed to give suitable presentation to friends/foes. Must look good; strike fear.

Day 23
Got an ailment of some sort that slowed me considerably. Had to rest for some time. Well the disease solved one issue at least... I can't be a Paladin as they appear to be immune to all sorts of diseases.
Paladin
Assassin
Monk
Mercenary
- Footman?
- Guard?
- Foot Knight?
Tried to ride a horse today. Definitely not a Paladin. By the gods I couldn't even get on the thing.
Perhaps I was a mercenary at some point. Would explain why I am familiar with most locales.
Interesting note: Don't reckognize buildings in BG younger than twenty-five years or there abouts. Judging by what my age appears to be at present... that would have made me a child most likely. Was I from here?
Unless my age at present is an illusion...

Day 24
Noticed strange obsession: Have significant urge to stomp skulls of enemies into the bloodied earth. Not a healthy habit to have.

Re: Caedis Praedurum - Memories Made, Memories Lost
Day 25
Several important discoveries today.
1. Consulted priests of Torm and later Helm to divine meaning of birthmark/tatoo. Most of us have thought surely it was Torm's mark to include myself. Both churches agree it is actually a mark of Helm much to my own surprise.
2. These same priests helped me to understand nature of the divine powers I have begun to show. After quite the investigation, the conclusion is that I am an Invoker of sorts. Which goes to explain the lack of formal prayers required in order to direct some of these spells. Apparently this makes me a tool of Helm, a notion which I am not entirely displeased with. I did not think Helm made use of Invokers, so perhaps I should appreciate my position a bit more. After all, it is indeed rare that a God would show such favor to being as myself.
Two surprises that have sent me leaps and bounds towards discovering what I am/was.
Now, if only I could solve the issue with my memory loss...
What is the source/cause of it!?

Re: Caedis Praedurum - Memories Made, Memories Lost
Day 29
- I served as a door guard a recent charity ball. Good cause. I owed it to the Illmaters for patching me up anyway. It was too bad I have work ethic. There were some fine upstanding ladies in that place and would happily have accompanied one or two back to their homes. --- For their own safety of course.
Met Foggy at the ball, he is an interesting and entertaining gnome.
Several days later met a smaller perhaps younger Foggy Doppleganger. Perhaps an illegitament love-child?
- Seen many women in full-plate or similar armor of late. I've witnessed this many miles outside of the cities. Can't say I find it attractive. Also not entirely sure what brings them so far from the kitchen.
- The Fist have a limited area for patrols. I have an urge to see the unseen however. Possible conflict of interest. Perhaps I should seek other means of employ. Dungeoneering has been profitable enough to keep me well-dressed and well-fed.
- Been guarding a... unique wizard of late. Quite the "eccentric" individual, to put it kindly. I find some joy in entertaining his strange notions.

Re: Caedis Praedurum - Memories Made, Memories Lost
Day 38
- I have finally gained enough strength to wield a tower shield and even don full plate. This is not without scarifice as I find it slightly more difficult to wield my weapon, regardless of type.
- While my prowess in battle has improved significantly, I find myself learning even mundane facts... rather slowly.
- The awkward human mage named "Arthur," and a new companion of Gnomish heritage that goes by "Tren" have both proved to be very helpful and often give me the edge in battle. Interesting characters I assure you. Quite the odd group if I do say so myself.
- Must remember to write a letter to Candlekeep as they may have insight into my "condition." I believe they may have the keys to understanding causes unrelated to significant head trauma.

Re: Caedis Praedurum - Memories Made, Memories Lost
Day 39
-Received correspondance from High Priest Nathanel of the House of the Triad. Appears that I may be accepted as an acknowledged ally of their cause. I am supposed to travel with Sir Valek Sunborn, a knight in the Hammers of Grimjaws when possible in order to train further.
I believe that I have found a calling that fits my person.
- I hesitated today, which caused a young man to taste the bitter flavors of an early demise. I asked if a small group needed assistance instead of impaling the beast first and asking questions later. I thought the group was training... that small pause on my part allowed a lizardman a mighty swing on the poor fellows head, a blow that would not have been successful had I thrusted my blade clear through the creature's skull as would have been proper. We did manage to get the adventurer back to his feet, though it took a great deal of nursing - an occupation I'd rather leave to Ilmateri as I lack the patience and aptitude needed for such grevious injuries.
Hesitance leads to death. A hard lesson learned today.

Day 41
- I have applied and been accepted to both the causes of House of the Triad and the Diamond Blades of Nashkel. May the Gods be prepared for the amount of lawless souls I shall supply them shortly.
My loyalties now lie with Helm, The House, and The Blades in that order, lest I forget my place.
It appears I finally have a purpose in these realms. I look forward to the amount of negotiating I shall accomplish with both boot and blade.

Day 43
- It appears I am a bit... "passionate" about lawbreakers . The emotions were so strong in me in fact, that I broke a tooth today. At least some Ilmateri fixed it later on. I wouldn't want it to effect my smile after all, haha.
- Met Sgt. Lore McWebber, a member of the Blades of Nashkel. He helped with a bit of my training through a few rounds of sparring. I admittedly needed the training and it is with a humbling tone that I admit I was easily outclassed by his skill. He was very kind in offering me a loan of a fine tower shield. I don't know what would possess him to relinquish such a fine piece though he does claim he prefers slightly less cumbersome shields. A very kind action nevertheless. I will be putting it to good use shorty, of this I am sure.

Day 46
-Travelled in the land of the undead with that small fellow Tren. Smashed a great deal of their number with his help. Took a rather grevious wound from a Halberdier there. Though the wound hurt a great deal, it was the skeletal mage that damn near ended my life. Had to make a tactical advance to the rear, patch myself up, then returned to finish the job.
- Went to the temple... it has been a while. Found some old letters and notices. Found one from Aiden McBride and sent a reply. It was about the same undead I was battling. Perhaps I can rally support for his cause. I have a bit of a vandetta now with those evil beings anyway.
