bleed effects working as intended?

Unread post by Vadenor »

just curious, ive fought some mobs and noticed that bleed effects are absorbed by damage reduction...this case being the IB bleed ability

Iirc, this shouldn't be happening...damaged delivered by a successful sneak attack already already interacted with the Damage Reduction mechanic in the initial attack, this is not a secondary effect of the sneak attack, but part of the successful damage dealt.

i also have an issue with stone skin and other spells absorbing existing bleed effects...its fine and dandy that they have a tough outer coating when they cast the spell...however...it seems to mitigate their internal bleeding from pre-existing wounds. i outside of stone body bleed effects should still apply their effects normally seeing as how the persons vitals have not been altered. its almost like they get pale-master status....

example from the 3.5 rulebook pg.218
"Iron body: transforms your body into living iron, which grants you several powerful resistances and abilities"

versus PG. 257.
"Stone skin: The warded creature gains resistance to blows, cuts, stabs, and slashes.
No anatomical changes in the description. Bleeding isnt about something coming towards your body, which would activate the "ward", this is something leaving your body.

anyway was wondering if this was a game engine thingie.

cheers.

Bleed is bugged by default. DR stops bleed damage.

The only bleed that isn't stopped is Expose Weakness Bleed...that ignores DR...heheheh XD
