Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumours spread of an explosion upstairs at the Helm and Cloak, filling the upper floor with smoke but causing no significant structural damage. Some of the regulars boast about helping people to safety, and it seems no one was seriously injured. Rumour also has it that the Fist is investigating the cause and treating it as suspicious, though they are apparently tight-lipped about any leads.

*word passes around in hushed whispers that a suspiciously gnome sized hin has been running around the surface realm*
"…when you have stared long into the eyes of the Tarrasque and lived to tell the tale, I shall call you a warrior…"

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Word begins to get around in the palace district that a local jewelry merchant -- Fairbanks Duvivier of Duvivier Diamonds -- has been burgled!
"They even killed my cats!" The gnomish jeweler is heard lamenting to anyone who asks about the robbery.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A romantic mood seems to decent over Baldur's Gate. The minstrel by the fountain will only sing romantic ballads and lamentations rather than the usual heroic tales of adventurers. People are seen dreamily picking flowers, amateur magicians are pulling them out from their sleeves and the local florist is cunningly raising prices. A lutist near the Friendly Arm Inn has spent several hours plucking chords and trying to think of words that rhyme with "intoxicating". All of this is apparently in preparation for the Romance-themed Open Stage Night being held by the White Mask Theatre in the Palace District tomorrow night.

A woman dressed mostly in red was seen being dragged, kicking and screaming... and later running with just as much screaming... From Baldur's Gate to Candlekeep.
"Play nice." Mum

"Revenge is beneath me, but Accidents happen..."
"Even Echoes fade to silence."

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumors begin to circulate, of a brave cartographer/adventurer who has gone missing while searching for the elusive lair of the Gibberlings. Some claim she had discovered it and returned for resupplies, before leaving once more to map the caves. However she has not been seen or heard from since...

Doriah Rokranon, daughter of Jonas, is seen leaving Baldurs to the south, on a white horse with a knight in shiny armor riding it. She is followed by two other knights and a priest, surrounding her as they leave.
The young woman's face seems bruised, and a veil of sadness is covering her blue eyes, as she holds tight to the saddle.

A tall human woman with a shaved head has been asking around town about the local worship of Auril. She has been exceedingly rude to those who could or would not offer her any information on the subject.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumor has it that Randall "The Beast" Armstrong is in Flaming Fist custody ... yet again. Eyewitness accounts suggest that he was transported from the library fortress of Candlekeep to the city of Baldur's Gate by a contingent of four Flaming Fist soldiers, supported by a Battlecaster and led by one Corporal Fentin Berlance.
Everyone who knows (or knows of) Randall is wondering the same thing: What did he do this time?

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
*A strange glow is seen from a distance up at the temple of Bane deep in the woods*
*A few days later whisperings from woodsmen reach the Friendly Arms Inn that a Necromancer with a skeletal face walking with strange robed men chanting two words "Revan Dahl! Revan Dahl!" over and over during the late night hours*
*The Sorceror muses to himself as he pets his rats* Well done my pretties. If that woman hadnt told so many people that Revan was a servant of Bane this never could have been done. My spells were well prepared for you rats to make it in and out of the ventilation within that mighty tower. No one but the fools performing the ritual were at the tower when we achieved our goal. The mighty Revan Dahl is with us once again.

With the recent posters advertising the Open Stage Night's spirituality-themed show, talk around the fire turns to heroic stories of close calls. Some insist they saw a light or heard a voice, the moment before their luck turned. Others talk about how they always followed their deity, and owe everything to them. Chorus's strike up, horns, harps and trumpets sound. A general feeling of spiritual appreciation settles over Baldur's Gate.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
*whisperings and rumours abound from the Friendly Arm Inn to Beregost of a one eyed dwarf with twin axes and a penchant for grandiose storytelling. Some claim him to be the magically bred half-bastard child of a frost giant and halfling. Others claim he's the get of a mad sorcerer and a dwarven princess. The Dwarf himself swears he's the offspring of the very axes he carries......or so they say*

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
*A man in dark clothing is asking around Baldur's Gate about two people. A human woman and a male moon elf that does not speak common. He goes from tavern to inn asking for any bartender or innkeeper to tell the pair that he is looking for them.*
I am often at the Elfsong tavern, tell them to find me there. Have them ask for Delphinn. Delphinn Veil. If I'm not there, the barmaids will know where to find me.
*Rumor has it that the same man asked about his own ring. It had two intertwined serpents with bared fangs facing each other.*

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A rash of Grave robberies within and around the Gate are being investigated by the authorities. Rumor has it that the theft is abnormally ghoulish since valuables of the deceased have been left but the bodies, corpses, remains have been exhumed and "collected". Crypts, coffins, and vaults of the deceased have been damaged at what seems to be a hasty and rather quick excavation of the robbed sites....
Most are not too concerned since many of the deceased were those that were rested in unmarked graves... Many whom were executed for various crimes against the Duchery and it's people...

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A masked, hooded man, failed in a pick pocket attempt in Baldur's Gate today. The honest merchant he attempted to rob was a bit surprised the attempt was made right outside Maltz's shop, in plain view of Fist guards and other onlookers, in the bright of day. Said merchant was also curious why a man would be allowed to walk around the city, in broad daylight, wearing a mask and hood. The merchant is rumored to saying to Maltz that he may take his business, and that of his clients, from Baldur's Gate, to Neverwinter or Waterdeep. There was another similar failed pick pocket attempt made recently at the Friendly Arm Inn. This attempt was also made in front of onlookers, in broad daylight, in plain view of the inn guards. While this honest merchant is not easily robbed, and the ineptitude of these thieves is slightly amusing to him, he in good conscience, will not risk his clients' investments in what seems to be becoming a lawless area.
